Outside my Comfort Zone

I tried something new. And no, it wasn’t actually outside of my comfort zone. But it was a new thought to me.

For the past few weeks, I have been making little pizzas for dinner Friday nights. With chicken wings. But it was the pizzas that were causing me problems. I would get them all stretched out, add sauce and toppings and then the poor things would get all scrunched up when I tried to get them off of the center console and onto the pizza stone that was busy heating up in the oven. My new idea was to build the pizza, once it was all stretched out, on the cool pizza stone. And it worked! The pizza-lets didn’t stick enough to worry about. And the crust was pretty crisp. So, I have solved a major problem with me and mini pizzas. So excited!!

It is a Sunday. And I have been doing typical Sunday things. Which include: changing my bed sheets, doing laundry and taking a shower. Not that taking a shower is a weekly event. (More like annual…). And reading. And looking at stuff online.

Speaking of watching stuff online, I finally finished watching all of Castle. Not enough of Molly Quinn for my taste. But it was fun overall. What’s next, though, that is the question. Then again, with the book I am reading, I could actually forego watching a lot of TV for the next few days and nights.

And, I got a new video game: Hogwarts Legacy. I am liking it already. It is in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, but it happens during the time of the Goblin Wars. I think. About 100 years before the events in the books. I just started the game. The graphics are good. And so far it isn’t too complicated. It is sad that there is no Quidditch. I am not sure why they made that choice. Maybe because some people would just want to play Quidditch all the time and forget the rest of the game. And it turns out that there is a stand alone video game of just Quidditch. Anyway, I have played about an hour and am looking forward to playing more. It took me a while to find the game in the xBox menus and get it to load. Just because I don’t add new games all that often. I don’t think I will play Battlefield 1 again. I just wasn’t liking it…I tried twice. Though, third time is the charm, I’ve heard.

The laundry is done and folded and I am leaning towards it being dinner time. I still have lots of leftovers. I don’t know when I am going to get around to making a new recipe. Which calls for chicken, but I think it would probably be just as good without. I need to/want to use the ricotta cheese that SM left for me when she headed off to her travels. Maybe I will make that on Monday. If I don’t end up dashing.

That’s the plan currently. To not dash on Memorial Day. I know a few places will be closed. And since many people have the day off, I figure a lot of people will be dashing. If they offer an incentive, I might change my mind.

And that’s all for now. I really am peckish.

Ribs and Things

Last night I made 3 lbs of ribs for dinner. They turned out pretty well. And I have enough leftovers for days. I will start eating them on Monday. I have dinner plans tonight. Not plans with someone (poo), I just have food that is leftover that needs to be eaten. And tomorrow night I am having dinner with SM. After helping her with her tech issues. Anyway, I had two different BBQ sauces and used each on half of the ribs. I made way too many fries. I guess. Sigh. Can there ever really be too many fries? Baked beans (one of my comfart, er, comfort foods. Not that I needed comforting). And some coleslaw. Store bought. All in all a tasty meal! Woo hoo! And not that much work, really.

My meal last night

I woke up this morning and started to play. And that’s what I did most of the day. I even retrained one of my characters. I have two more to retrain. And it looks like each retraining costs more and more. Good thing I only have two that I need to retrain! I am almost caught up to where I was before i started over. And I think I am in a better spot in terms of character development, weaponry, armor, health, etc. The next bit (after the bit I am in right now) is a tough part. I have to defeat the gippers (people living with a weird Ronald Reagan based philosophy). And there are a lot of them! Sigh. We shall see how everything is going after I finish these next two bits. Which I will probably do tonight.

I took two breaks. Well, three, I guess. One was for lunch. I made myself another tasty grilled cheese sandwich. I even had a pickle with it. (I found that I had a lone pickle sitting in a jar in the fridge. It’s now in my belly.) Then I took a break that included reading the last bit of the second Emily Wilde books. I am looking forward to the third, which is sitting on the floor of my bedroom. But I will read the first book in the new to me series first. Variety, don’t you know. It is called The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. Interesting title. And my last break was spent working on the GLO mailing list. I think it is in good shape. I have a few questions which I will pose to the group and then we can move forward on that.

My plan for the day, that I made a few days ago, did not come to fruition. I did not head out and try the two beer places that I have in my sights. Although it wasn’t actually cold out, it was cool and grey. And I just didn’t feel like going out. Which is fine. I hope to try again next weekend if the weather cooperates. And I had a dandy time here, not going out. So it worked out. Revised plan I guess.

It is dinner time here at the Chalet. I am having the last of the Mexican food for dinner. I thought the Xanga was good – but not really worth the $$ to me. If I want to have deep fried cheesecake again, I will make it myself. Or buy a cheesecake and make it with that. Anyway, food time!

Thank you for stopping by! Comments and questions are always welcome and encouraged!

Evil hiding from Evil?

Today was another exciting day here in the Wilds of Central (Western?) NY. Woo hoo.

I got up and did a morning dash. Despite a lot of miles traveled, it was a decent dash for a change. That is a good thing. The second dash was also ok. Except for the last ride. I wasn’t going to take another one, but I thought – what the heck, what’s the worst that can happen? And guess what, the worst didn’t happen. But…Wendy’s was short staffed again, so a 2 minute pick-up turned into a ten or fifteen minute pick up. Poo. Also, when I was picking up a different order at McDonald’s, I somehow lost hold of the bag and it fell on the ground. There was a loud explosion, like a little bomb went off. And soon enough, the bag was leaking coke! The glass/plastic must have broken. The McDonald’s staff were very nice about it and replaced the drink and the bag without question or hesitation. Huzzuh!

While toodling about, a fox ran across the road in front of me! (I didn’t hit it.) I didn’t know we had foxes in this area. I remember seeing them running around London when I was spending time there with A and wondering if we had them in our urban areas. And we don’t, so far as I know. This one was spotted out in the countryside. Still cool, though.

Got a text message saying that “they” wanted the furnished finder space if it was still available. I asked them which inquiry they were and I haven’t heard back. I wonder what the heck that was about. Oh, I also turned down an offer from LD. She asked me if I wanted to buy snacks for one of her clients. I politely, I hope, passed. I don’t like shopping for other people. Pick up medicine, sure. But go into a store and buy stuff for them, no thank you. Not my idea of a good time.

I finally got back to playing video games. It has taken me a long while. Since at least last Christmas (2023) I think. Wow! Anyway, I bought a recent Assassin’s Creed Game, Valhalla, and got it all up and running. I might change the difficulty level to the easiest setting because I am way out of practice with the controllers etc. I would like to get back into the saddle playing Red Dead Redemption II. Someday perhaps.

Ok, time to make a little dinner. I am peckish. Tomorrow is another day. I have a Canandaigua run – weirdness is sure to ensue. Happy Thursday one and all!
