Rainy Day! Rain all day…

It continually amazes me that I can find answers to so many questions so easily. I was having a small issue with my keynote presentation, so I wrote a query in regular English in the search bar of Chrome and the AI came up with the exact answer I needed. So cool!

It is so frustrating to me when I have a thought and I can’t get it down for whatever reason. Often I use Siri to help me remember something. This has been a godsend. Admittedly sometimes what I say doesn’t make a lot of sense when I see it in print – but it made sense at the time. Often I can figure out what the heck I was talking about. Other times, I actually take the time to write something down somewhere. And since many of my more pithy thoughts are around the campaign, I have documents where I can jot those thoughts down. Yay. I know I thought of something just recently that I didn’t get down because I was listening to a video on driver safety. I do hope that it comes back because it seemed pretty cool at the time.

Speaking of the driver safety class, one of the good things about taking the day off was that I got that GD course accomplished. It cost me $85 – $80 for the class and $5 for a convenience (WTF) charge. Grrr. And I will probably have a $120 fine to pay on top of that. At least that is my guess. Anyway, this class was a lot shorter and a lot better than the one I took for Seneca Falls. And it is behind me now. I have sent the certificate to the county court guy and will hopefully hear from them soon with what the next steps are. This whole process is interesting though not particularly fun.

I remembered the thought! It was: I think I will wear my Grinch outfit tomorrow anyway. Just to honor Halloween. I have a couple of engagements – one with JC and EC. And one with SM for dinner. I think they all will be ok with me showing up as the Grinch. I am not going to do make-up as I just don’t have the mental energy (or the make-up) for it. So the mask will have to do.

My sort of plan for tomorrow is to go to JC and EC and maybe be there an hour or two. Definitely out by noon. Then head to the library and pick up the library books waiting for me. I may or may not head to the campaign bank. And I might go to my other banks – just because I am dressed up. When my errands are done, I will return home and futz around until dinner with SM. We are going to go to the new sandwich place that now inhabits the space that Parker’s inhabited. Sounds like a good day’s plan to me.

Whoa! I got a response already from the county DA. It had an attachment that I need to sign and return to the Town Court House, so I will add that to my list of things to do tomorrow. How exciting is that? It ain’t over yet…Not till the fat lady (me) pays the fine…

Augustus for President: Could I be getting traction already? There were two contacts in my list on the website. One signed up for emails. Not really sure what that means, but ok. And the other is someone who wants to volunteer for the campaign. How weird is that? The second one is local, so I plan on asking him to meet at some point soon. Not really sure what to do with a volunteer just now, though. I guess if he is someone I connect with, I will ask him to wear a badge and give him an NFC card and start him out in the world sharing my existence. Maybe he can also organize something at HWS where I can do a meet and greet. Neither of the contacts have filled out any of the surveys, so I guess I will start there.

I sent them both emails.

Also, my niece has graciously agreed to help me with my outrageously long thoughts document. That is awesome too! She is a dependable, capable, smart person. So excited!

Maybe if I end up taking the trip in February by myself (not ideal) I am going to look into possibly buying and towing a trailer to save on housing costs. What do you think? I just saw a cool one for around $5k. That might be cheaper than 55 nights of hotels…well, at $100 a night that would be $5500 so…

I love the monster on the second floor!

Friday Travels

The other day I was delivering in Seneca Castle and saw a yard display that was cool. Today as I was driving back from Canadaigua, I stopped and got pictures. What I hadn’t noticed last time was that there was a second display. Which is this picture:

Pet Cemetary!

Why, you may ask, was I in Canandaigua this afternoon? Fair question, which I will answer the long way around.

The day started with me heading to JC and EC’s to pick them up for an appointment in Rochester. We got there in plenty of time, the procedure was much quicker than I expected and we got out of there after a very short visit. Hurrah! And a good visit, for most of us. JC still has some pain from the procedure which isn’t at all surprising…

After we got back to town, JC took us to lunch at Captains Cafe. I admit, I have never eaten there before. I have picked up from there many times, but not had their food. We all ended up getting different things. EC got a dish that combined eggs and avacados. JC had stuffed french toast – partially stuffed with a mixture of cream cheese and fluff! And I had a steak eggs benedict. All tasty and I think everyone agreed that we could eat there again if the opportunity arises.

After dropping them back at their house, I made a quick stop at my house to drop off my leftovers and to pick up my traffic ticket paperwork. Then I headed over to Canandaigua to see what I could find out about my ticket.

My intial thought had been to go find a DA and see if they could help me with my concerns. I stopped in the first building and was guided to the courthouse. There, I was stopped at security, where they were asking what my business was. I told them I was hoping to speak with a DA about my traffic ticket. The guards thought that was pretty unlikely. I told them I was interested in at least going up to try. Instead, one of the guards, with another guard who kept wanting to put their two cents in, tried to help me. But I was just getting more and more confused. A man walked in and guess who it was? The DA person I had called and had not heard back from. The man himself! How awesome was that. After a bit of palaver, it became clear what I needed to do. The big concern on my part was that I might have had a ticket within 18 months that would have caused me to have more problems. The solution was going to the conveniently located (at this one time) DMV office and ask for an “abstract” regarding my license. That cost me $10. Sigh.

It showed only the current ticket – which meant to me that the prior ticket had been over 18 months ago. Woo hoo. My next step was to head home and do some scanning. And on the way home, I stopped at the cool lawn displays. Ta da!

At home, I scanned my ticket and my abstract, shrunk them a little because 10megs per image was a little bit of overkill and mailed them off. I got a response in about half an hour, which was much less than the two weeks that the security guard had said I would have to wait. Now I have to do another one of those tedious courses and pay $80. And I think that is all I have to do. That would be nifty. I will do the course on Sunday I think.

At home, I didn’t do a lot. Well, I went grocery shopping for garbage bags and some pepitas. I ended up with a bunch of snack food – in addition to the two things I went to the store for. Sigh.

I also did some reading. I am enjoying Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch. I don’t know if I will finish it this weekend, but I do have another library book in the cue. And another book on hold. Though I might not actually read the second book as I have already listened to it at least twice. But I think it will have a continuation of a subplot that has been a part of all the hard copies of the book series I have read so far. Yes, I am talking about This Inevitable Ruin from the Dungeon Crawler Carl (and Donut) series. We shall see.

Tomorrow, at least two people are coming to check out the house in hopes that I will throw them some work. Anything is possible. Sunday, a trip to Auburn and back. Monday, more driving for others. Later in the week, another airport pick up. Feels busy to me.

Augustus for President: I think I connected with a couple of people today. The big thing, though, was showing the very rough, very first draft of a potential speech for my candidacy to JC. He liked it. Mostly. And EC will read it and hopefully have some feedback too. It’s a start! We all agreed that the stickers are fun, but not ideal yet. I will tweek them some more before I order another set.

Please do the surveys. There are four of them up now!

Diver Person?

Is the diver character supposed to be scary?

It was a two dash day.

I got up a little later than I had wanted, but made it out onto the street around 9:00am. I was a tad delayed because I put the recycling out, having not put it out last night because of rain and plain old forgetfulness. Sigh.

The first dash was unexceptional. Well, that isn’t strictly true – one really weird thing happened. I picked up two orders from McDonald’s. I took pictures of the bags with their respective receipts. When I put them in the car a few seconds later, both tags had fallen off and disappeared! Luckily the two orders were very different in content. Not that I was really all that concerned since NEITHER of the two people tipped. At all.

At lunch time, I heated up leftovers from Sweet Acres Creamery for lunch. And while that was heating up, I did some dishes. And that was pretty much all I accomplished in this lunch period. I left the house a little early for the second shift so that I could pick up a book from the library and so I could put SM’s mail inside. Go me!

The second dash was also unexceptional. One person who I have delivered to before, promised to add a tip to her order after she got into her house. No tip has been seen. This is the second time this person has said they will add a tip afterward. Grrr.

I am home now. It is my Friday. Though tomorrow I do have an appointment. I was hoping to head to Canandaigua tomorrow to see what to do about my tickets. But instead, I am taking JC up to Rochester for a scan of some kind. That is bound to last a long time. I hope to get to Canandaigua in the afternoon instead. I really want to get this whole ticket thing resolved. And I hope that the County District Attorney’s office can help me figure out how to do that. Sigh and grrr. It shouldn’t be this hard.

Augustus for President: I gave out a few stickers today. Two to a door dash customer who read my name badge and said he would vote for me. And a couple of people at Char Burrito who asked about my candidacy. I think that the stickers are great. I can give something to anyone who is the least bit curious about me and the presidency.

I realized that the QR code that I created and have been using may be one of the ones that allows a certain number of uses before payment is required. Not optimal. One more thing I need to figure out at some point. The list continues to grow. Woo hoo?
