Today’s excitement revolved around visiting different living situations for EC and JC here in KC, Kansas City.

I didn’t sleep particularly well. Not sure what that was about. I woke up quite a few times. Actually staying up for an hour or so around 6 am local time. After doing my Duolingo, I did manage to get back to sleep until close to 8 or even 8:30.

We headed out around 9:30 am. First stop, visiting the apartment of a family friend to check out his building. Nice space for an apartment. It would be a good interim space if a space in a place with more facilities isn’t available when JC and EC are ready to move.

Fun door decoration!

From there we headed into the suburbs of Kansas City Kansas to visit a monster of a place. It was huge. 200+ residents. It seemed full of cheer. And very busy. Lots of light, nice living spaces. All in all a decent place to live. First as independents, and then as time progresses, moving to assisted living and then the next stages when those occurred. I could see living there!

Off to lunch at a great restaurant called Hema Hema. I am not sure what EC got, but it looked tasty and she seemed to enjoy it. CC got a good looking chicken sandwich with decent, but not exceptional fries. I had a chicken bacon pickle salad which I enjoyed thoroughly. Definitely a place I would eat at again.

After lunch, we headed to another apartment building. This one’s main attraction was that it was on top of a Whole Foods market. I haven’t been in many whole foods. Especially since Amazon bought them. Still, it is a decent grocery store and food place. The pizza looked great. Maybe I will have to try it someday. The apartments we viewed were spacious and light. Also a good space to live in while waiting for your number to come up for a place with more services for older people.

The last place we visited was a smaller complex located in downtown Kansas City MO. This one felt much more homey than the large suburban place. Many fewer units. Also with the feature of being able to move into progressively more service type areas. Again, a place that I wouldn’t mind living. Oh, both places were pretty pricey. Not sure I will be able to afford getting old at this point! I might have to live in a converted Motel 6. Luckily, it is not my decision to make for EC and JC.

Back at the apartment, it is nap time. And later we will be heading out to dinner.

Dinner was at the Kemper Museum. Cool museum. Interesting menu. Very locally sourced and themed. We all ordered different things and mostly tasted everyone else’s dishes. Except no one wanted to taste my venison. Their loss. Everything was very tasty. I ate too much, but I’m ok with that.

Augustus for President: Didn’t do much or think too much about the campaign. I wore my badge and a few people noticed it. But today was all about getting EC to visit a variety of places to see if any of them resonated with her. The last place we went was the one I liked best. And, as it turned out, EC agreed.
