Huzzuh! It was a Monday!

Hi anyone who reads this. I hope you had a good Monday. Mine was good. Except for the ongoing terrible political news that just seems to never ever end under the Drumpf administration. Grrr.

Ok, moving on. And no, that wasn’t cathartic enough, but I am not going to dwell on that crap. Way too disheartening.

It was a cold, cold day here in the Finger Lakes. I hope this polar vortex thing isn’t going to last that long. Sadly, according to the web, it is going to. Yay.

My car doesn’t like the cold weather. I think I have mentioned before that the horn doesn’t work when it is cold. And now, the voice commands don’t seem to work either. And that also sucks. I wonder if the Tesla repair people will have an answer for me on Friday. And this leads me to my next car thought. Maybe, after I finish my tour in April, I will see about leasing a newer version. If I get a three year lease, by that point, maybe Cybercabs will be ubiquitous and I won’t need a personal car. Or I will be in the White House and again won’t have need of a personal car. We shall see of course. Anything is possible. Most things are unlikely.

I did a marathon dash today. Not really marathon, but the long mode version of my dashing. I started a little after 8 and ended at around 1. A lot more driving than I would have liked, especially in the winter when some roads are not all the great to drive on, but it was a decent dashing day. Yes, really looking forward to not dashing anymore. But I will keep dashing until I leave for my capital trip in February.

I stopped and came home for a light lunch. And then ran some errands. I got a library book. And was told that there was no way to track whether or not books I had requested the library purchase were being purchased or not. Then off to Wegman’s. My goal there was to buy some saltines – I am almost out – and they can be a staple at the Chalet sometimes. And to buy more windshield wiper fluid, as I was going through it like there was no tomorrow. My car’s windshield seems to attract schmutz. Actually, my whole car does. It looks like I haven’t washed it in forever. Which is kinda true, actually. But in this particular set of circumstances, it seems like it accumulates more snow and crap on it’s sides than other cars I have had in my life. Sigh.

Last night, I finished up the 9th shelf (of 17) of the back stairs books. And I also scanned a lot of pictures from my wedding. Not because of the wedding. But because of all the family members and friends that are in them. Ok, I scanned a couple of pictures of wedding stuff just for the fun of it. That wedding was in 1984. Long time ago…

See anyone you know?

Augustus for President: I had ordered some pen leashes for clipboards and they didn’t come when I was told to expect them. The order kept getting delayed and delayed and delayed. I finally asked for a refund. Yesterday I think. And today Amazon told me that they had received the item back at their warehouse. Grrr. I went to staples to try and buy them more locally and they didn’t have them. What? Anyway…

Back to today’s news that SCOTUS is probably going to allow Drumpf to, again, do what no president has been allowed to do – fire anyone he wants basically anywhere in government without oversight. I mean, really! I think one of the first things I need to do as President is figure out how to fix the Supreme Court. This is insane. At this rate, there may be elections in 2028 but there won’t be a country to run. The US will be a shadow of it’s self. And heck, maybe that is a good thing. We really aren’t that great a country if you look at history. American Exceptionalism, while a lovely thought, just isn’t true. That being said, I truly do believe that we can do better. And be a better country and citizen of the world. Maybe a good space alien invasion is just what the world needs about now…

Fireflies are Lit!

Sometimes I wonder if making my yard into a field was a good choice. Tonight, I was, once again, re-assured in my decision. There were oodles of fireflies flitting around! Veritable fairies galore!

Nice day so far. Though I got out of bed really late. The first thing I did was head to Living Center Sounth so I could take AD to the lake. He is stuck with a horrible roommate and can’t stand being in that room. I hope he finds a new place to live sometime soon! I told him to let me know when he was ready to head back to LCS.

While picking up AD, I ran into EC and JC and had a quick chat with them. JC suggested that we get lunch together before heading down to his house to pay the bill. So I didn’t eat any lunch. Then, a little before 1, JC called to say that he was going to go home and take a nap. I suggested he called after he woke up. That also didn’t work out. Too much was going on, so we punted until Sunday, when I will go down a little early to pick CC and his wife up for a trip to the airport. The bill paying should be fine waiting until Sunday, I think.

Off to Lowes. I returned the bulbs that I had purchased in hopes that it was the bulbs dying instead of the fixture dying. Oh well. Then I picked up the fixture (the more expensive one – sigh) that JM had suggested I get. Hopefully he will get to installing it soon. That would be nifty.

A sign with an interesting spelling of Convenience…

AD called and said he was ready, so I took him back. My next mission was to see if I could find anything glowy to put on the ottoman that I almost kill myself on every night when I go to bed. I tried Staples and Harbor Freight. And the guy at Harbor Freight also checked Tractor Supply. Nothing. I even went to (ick)Walmart and they too did not have glowy things. But somewhere in there someone had mentioned glowy stars! Much better than glowy tape.

At home, I haven’t done much of anything. Well, that’s not strictly true. I ordered some glowy stars from Amazon – they ought to arrive on Sunday. And I have started two documents related to my Presidential Run.

The first one is a list of all the types of work I have done in my life. And it is quite a long list. A little bit of a lot of things. I do think that a president who is a Jack of All Trades is a good thing. Better than someone who is over specialized – like a doctor or an economics professor a lawyer. And with that list, I can relate to just about anyone who has every done any job, which is a good thing.

The other document is a catchall for thoughts on what I want to do on the campaign trail and what I need to do to get me there. Like finding a campaign manager (or three). And a couple of finance people – one to track and spend funds, another to be in charge of fundraising. Something I am not particularly good at – but I guess I will have to get better at. And tech people to run the events and maintain all the databases. I would really like my events, from the smallest to the (if I make it there) largest, to be unlike just about any other campaign’s events. I am not going to go into details here just yet. But I do hope that my events will be more fun and interesting than Political Events normally are.

It’s odd. For those who have been following me for a while, you have seen that I have been trying to figure out what I wanted to do for the next few years – and focusing on this might just be the ticket. Not writing or finishing other books. Not even Sirius Theatre. So far, running for president is only thing that has made me feel like tackling it,. Heck, you get a good medical plan – which is as good a reason as anything else to run imho.

Ok, heading into dinner time. I have my second burrito to eat. So excited!

Guess how Far I had to drive back

So, I took a long last drive into the middle of nowhere. And to drive back to my house took me a long time. Can anyone guess how many miles that was? Answer will appear below at some point.

I got a bad surprise today. My car insurance jumped more than $100 a month! What the actual fuck? I will ask my agent next week at some point. I started trying to find new insurance, but I didn’t succeed in the limited time I had allotted. I wanted to chat with a Geico agent, but it would have taken hours – which I did not have. Poo.

Turns out that there are a lot of trees in amongst my lilac bush. If only the weather was going to be pleasant this weekend, I would have done some trimming and lumberjacking. I hope my chainsaw is happy. I need to check the battery of course…

Apple has changed things again. Instead of asking Siri to open the weather widget, I have to now ask for the widget weather. Widget first. Grrr.

It was a dashing day. My last dashes of the week. The first was ok, but as usual, too much driving for too little money. And for the second, equally true. Especially the last ride. All the way to an out of the way part of Clyde New York. The drive back was 25 miles!! Did I get paid for that? Nope, not at all…grrr. And to add insult to injury, I got stuck at a train crossing for a few minutes waiting for a very long train to pass. And the train was booking along!!

Mexican Turtle!!

I decided to have subway for dinner tonight. Why not? Spread the wealth. I got the Sub of the day – $9.99 before tax – and it turned out that it was a special – pepperoni – with hot (spicy) honey sub. I got to choose between chips and cookies. I opted for cookies.

It is my Friday. Tomorrow I get to run errands and then help JC out. I think I am going to go with Team Viewer for communicating between my mac and JC’s computer. I used it a lot when I was working at the Smith – it let me spend more time at the house with my mom as she declined.

Ok, I am ready to turn off my brain. I have to do some Duolingo first, though. Woohoo…
