Has Anyone Visited the Baldwinsville Diner?

The big news today (at least around the Chalet) is that the paperwork is going through for the total loss of the car. The bank has been paid off. And I will eventually get a payout. A little larger than I had thought it was going to be. That is a good thing. Which makes my next step buying a new to me car. A process that I am notoriously bad at. Despite having had a lot of cars over the years. One of my friends asked me if I was going to buy another Tesla. I said I was and she was not pleased. I understand. She thinks buying a Tesla is benefitting Elon. Which it might in some teeny way. But, as I try to point out, there are many more reasons to buy a Tesla. First off, the car part of Tesla is getting to be a smaller and smaller part of their business. Energy will eclipse car sales soon. And Autonomy will eclipse that. And Robots will eclipse that. And…there is one more thing that is supposed to eclipse that. So, buying a car really doesn’t add much to Elon’s (the horrible) finances. And Telsa has a lot more employees than Elon (the poop). As for the cars themselves – Tesla’s are still the best all around electric vehicles on the market. If I buy a used one, no money for Elon. Though I will admit I am toying with the idea of buying a car directly from Tesla. I will work on that tonight.

This morning, I got up and got out pretty quickly. I went to Baldwinsville to get the mats out of the car. And the license plates. And the pucks out of the frunk. Luckily, when I got there, I asked a guy who actually knew how to get into the frunk when it was being reluctant. And he lent me a screwdriver for the license plates. It was an easy drive and I got to listen to my book. And again on the way back home. With a stop in between.

Look, not a food picture

If I lived in Baldwinsville, I would probably go to the Baldwinsville Diner at least once a month. If not more frequently. The food coming out of the kitchen looked great. And with large portions. And the staff all seemed personable. Since I love diner food, there are probably at least a week or two weeks worth of choices on their huge menu. Definitely a place I would like to go again, if it weren’t so far away. I eventually chose a reuben over a club sandwich. It came with chips. Though the fries looked good too. Maybe next time. Anyone want to go up and try out the place with me?

Other than that, it has been a cleaning day. A shower and a load of laundry, were the primary parts of that.

Moving on to part three of the evening. How exciting is that? I get to eat more leftover chicken pot pie for dinner. Yippee!

Augustus for President: Still working on the capital steps speech. And the basic press release. Both need a lot of work! I updated the campaign site to reflect the new start date of the 50+1 Capitals Tour. And I noticed that there are a few more volunteers who have signed up. All of whom seemed to have provided real information. That’s exciting. And humbling. Now if only more people would start contributing to the campaign…

Why do people give 4 star ratings (out of 5? (5 being good))? I just don’t understand it. Did I not leave the food in precisely the place you wanted? Was one french fry too cold? I don’t get it. But two people have given me four star ratings recently. Weird. People are just so strange!

The other day, I came to a construction stoppage. In place of a couple of people flipping signs around, yet another technological device was in play. This one showed a large stop sign. And then, it changed to a huge slow sign – but with a weird rotating display that I couldn’t figure out as I was driving past. Cool, though.

I love wispy clouds!

Yesterday, my Facebook post titled “Welcome Home” got removed for some reason. The title didn’t match the content maybe? Which is weird. I was welcoming home my Tesla. Which I wrote about in the post. Who knows. I complained and I hope to hear something eventually. I might have to stop posting to Facebook too, if they do things like this frequently. Since this is the first time, I will give their AI the benefit of the doubt. Still boggles my brain.

Today was a one dash day. And it went decently. Yay. We like that. All in all a decent week. Next week I will dash again. How thrilling.

I had a lot of things planned for the afternoon. And they sort of came to fruition. I wanted to order a couple of things online. I managed to order one of them. The other I am still debating. It is luggage. I can’t decide if I like the item or not. I did just get an email offer of 15% off so there’s that. I also called REI because Amazon thought they might have one – they didn’t. The person who answered the phone was, oddly, called REI. Though maybe she was just giving me the name of the store in hindsight…

Next up, getting the tires rotated on the Tesla. It has been another 5000 miles already. Yesterday Nick said I could pop in and he would get me taken care of. I popped in, Nick wasn’t there and Joey said it would be an hour’s wait. Nope. Not interested in waiting an hour for a wheel rotation. I will check back tomorrow.

Off to the Salvation Army to look for slippers. And…I found none. Sigh. There was a pair of my favorite slocks there – too small for me though. And my current pair is still holding up pretty well. I want more sets of slippers for the other doors that I occasionally step out of. I have slippers at two doors and at the foot of the attic stairs. I would like three more pairs. Someday.

Last stop, grocery store. I had a list. And I got most of what was on it. I did not get Utz caramel corn. (I looked online and it sells for $15 now! I thought it was around $6. Inflation? Or was I hallucinating?) Wegmans no longer carries it. I also wanted to get store brand oreo type cookies with chocolate innards. But they didn’t have those either. So I got Oreos with a new “toffee” flavored filling. Wish me luck.

All in all, not a very effective shopping experience today.

Tonight, my plan was to get some Mexican food. But, at my friend’s suggestion, I bought some pastrami to build a Reuben with that. And so, tonight, it will be a pastrami reuben instead of Mexican Food. Maybe Mexican on Sunday. We shall see.

One thing I did accomplish was to set up parking for my upcoming trip. Yay.

Speaking of trips, I have no plans for Christmas. So I might travel over that time. I don’t know if it is more expensive or less. I might go to England. Or just go someplace warm. Trips I would like to make are so numerous, I am not going to go into them here. For now, though, I am trying to keep my outflow of money low so I can catch up a bit. Best laid plans…

Ok, time to do some Duolingo and then make the pastrami Reuben.
