Days Can Be Anything

Well, that was unexpected. I got a call from EC saying that JC and she needed help. So I leapt (metaphorically) out of bed, did my morning ablutions and headed down there. When I got to the house, things were already calmer. And EC had also called another helpful human to come and see what assistance he could provide. He was a great help and went and got another walker for JC’s use. While he was gone, EC fed JC and me some lunch. And after DW returned, he and I made up their fold out sofa for their sleep tonight. Tomorrow, DW will help to get their hospital type beds out of their upstairs bedroom and bring them both down into the TV room. I think a little mobile armoire would be a good thing, too. But one step at a time. I was there for a good little bit today.

Then I bailed, promising to come back tomorrow to get EC to her PT appointment. I had errands I wanted to run, even though it is a Sunday. I stopped at the library to drop off the book I finished yesterday. And then picked up two more books to read from SM who had left them on her porch. Lastly, I went to Staples and bought a B&W printer for the campaign. The one I have been using was lent to me by the GLO and I plan on returning it on Monday. And I didn’t want to be without a printer. Next task today, set up the new printer!

Carefully Cropped to Hide the Chaos that is my Desk area…

I got the printer set up – there was a step missing in their instructions, but the internet helped me get there. This is the same printer that I got JC to purchase when he was looking to replace his older printer. It is pretty cool. It does two sided printing and scans and even faxes I think. Lucky campaign!

I also did my Sunday things – showered, changed my sheets (and my mattress pad) and will do a largish load of laundry this evening. My second load of laundry for the week! I am a laundering fool!

For dinner tonight, three sausage links, two over easy eggs, and two pieces of raisin bread toast. Looks like no asparagus(tus) tonight either. Sigh.

On a completely different note: Elon thinks that Tesla won’t be selling many cars in just a year and a half. And I think he is way off. I think it will be more like fifteen years before 90% of the traffic in the world is autonomous. Yes, getting autonomous vehicles and robotaxis to half the population of the US could possibly be achieved in a year and a half (though I think that is probably not realistic either). Great. So the rest of the US, not to mention the world) will take progressively slower. Just like charging. The first x% goes quickly, then it slows down. Like an S curve. And the steep part of the curve is going to take longer than he thinks it will and people will still need cars with pedals and steering wheels for years to come. Imho

Augustus for President: I have a campaign finance guy! Welcome aboard KAS. So excited. And I am getting him relatively inexpensively. At least that is my opinion. People in Maine – look at Graham Platner running for Senate to oust Collins. I hope he wins. I have all sorts of things on my presidential plate, some of which I will handle sooner than others. I am conflicted about Patreon – because it looks like the platform is pretty money hungry. Gofundme is another option. Capitalism sucks. But I hope to have a website up and ways to donate on it at some point before the end of the month. It will be a Work in Progress (WIP) but it will at least be something I can point people to.

Another Typical Sunday!

I really need to bring snacks with me when I travel by car. Oh well, maybe I will remember next time. If there is a next time. I mean, when I next travel long distance by car.

Speaking of cars, I definitely will be buying a new to me car this year. I am really tired of my poor Tesla Model 3 being a standard range vehicle.

So far, it has been a quiet day. I got up and did little until heading to EC’s to set up an opera for them to listen to. I thought their TV was a Roku television, but it wasn’t. Not sure what it was in terms of operating system. But they didn’t have a soundcloud app. They did have an internet browser option and I did that. In sound cloud, I search for the composer and the title and couldn’t find them either way. Instead, I just typed in the whole URL – which luckily wasn’t impossibly long. And it worked! Huzzuh! I also printed out the libretto. Getting the printer to print from my laptop was much easier than I thought it would be. And it printed two sided!

Back at home, I did my normal stuff – lunch – the last dolmades and three chicken wings – shower, change sheets. The laundry is all folded and put away.

More Pow Wow pictures!

My second trip to visit JC and EC didn’t happen. Not surprised actually, since I am sure JC was tired after his visit with TC. So, I have been just puttering around and trying to get the computer stuff for GLO organized. I haven’t done it in a year and needed to look and see how the final sheets looked.

So this week that is the big thing – the GLO shows. After the shows, I will talk to GR about leaving the board. I just don’t like having the commitment hanging over my head.

No big plans for tonight. Just dinner – I think I am making empanadas. And then deep thoughts.

Augustus for president: I wrote another snappy answer for why people should vote for me – I am not them – i.e. I am not the billionaire or even millionaire class. Nor am I a career politician who can seem sincere and then turn around and vote for crappy legislation – because they don’t want to lose their position…grrrr.

We were Cute!

My cleaner/helper came to scrape and paint yesterday. At least that was the plan. But she was tired, so I told her to come back when she was better rested. We did go over what I was expecting, at least in terms of scraping and painting. But we did not talk about how long I thought the rest of the job should take. I really have no sense of time when it comes to painting since I do it infrequently. And I dislike doing it so much. At least she came, though! We shall see when she will return. I am guessing not until May.

I’m not sure if I have mentioned this before or not, so I will mention it here. My boarder has a penchant for leaving lights on. I don’t know what the deal was in China or in her home, but the desire to have lights turned off when not in use is sort of baked into my habits. So when she leaves a light on, I often turn it off. Not in her room, though. Anywhere but there. I don’t go in her room unless she asks me to.

It was really easy to set up the printer that SM gave me. I guess since I am her printing guy, she has no need of one anymore. And now I have a scanner downstairs. And one that I can move onto the porch if I want to. Or anywhere. And Preview scans from it just dandily. As a test, I took an envelope that said Karl and (Au)Gus(tus) (parentheses mine) kid pictures and found 10 pictures. Mostly of Karl though there I was there in one and had one of my own. Off to a good start!

Karl and (Au)Gus(tus) Ages 5 and 2 maybe

The day started off a little shakily. I think I had a bit too much fun last night. But I rallied.

First task, picking J up from the Center over in Canandaigua. I had forgotten how long it takes (20 minutes), so got there early. After dropping J home, I headed to Tractor Supply and bought some hummingbird flower seeds. Not that I am growing a hummingbird. But I hope to have some flowers that hummingbirds might like. I think I have to wait a little while longer before tossing them on the ground and spraying them with some water. Come the apocalypse, I hope I don’t get asked to grow things…

Oh, forgot a stop at the library. I picked up the two books I put on hold last night. That was zippy of them. I guess they had copies available in the Geneva library.

Then to Tractor supply. Then to the grocery store to get the ribs and things for tonight’s dinner. I also got some snackage that I really didn’t need. I am a bit over-snacked right now. This too shall pass, though.

At home, I played mostly. Though I did take the time to make a delicious grilled cheese (sharp cheddar with a little bit of blue cheese, pepperoni slices and a bit of banana pepper) sandwich for lunch. Then more playing. And a bit of work on the GLO spreadsheet. It is going to take a bit more work than I had anticipated. It is way longer than previous versions (maybe 400 more names?) for some reason. not sure why. Since I don’t really want to go through the actual management of the list in the detail that LL did, I simplified the sheet. Sadly, Numbers doesn’t have automatic functions for date created and date modified. (We so need a database for this mailing list.) And there are some bits I don’t understand. I will work on it some more tomorrow and Sunday and then touch bases with SN on Monday to see what his thoughts are.

Cooking time! Making BBQ ribs. I boil mine first. Does anyone else do that? Ribs, coleslaw, baked beans and french fries. That’s the dinner plan. Wish me luck!
