The other day I was delivering in Seneca Castle and saw a yard display that was cool. Today as I was driving back from Canadaigua, I stopped and got pictures. What I hadn’t noticed last time was that there was a second display. Which is this picture:

Pet Cemetary!

Why, you may ask, was I in Canandaigua this afternoon? Fair question, which I will answer the long way around.

The day started with me heading to JC and EC’s to pick them up for an appointment in Rochester. We got there in plenty of time, the procedure was much quicker than I expected and we got out of there after a very short visit. Hurrah! And a good visit, for most of us. JC still has some pain from the procedure which isn’t at all surprising…

After we got back to town, JC took us to lunch at Captains Cafe. I admit, I have never eaten there before. I have picked up from there many times, but not had their food. We all ended up getting different things. EC got a dish that combined eggs and avacados. JC had stuffed french toast – partially stuffed with a mixture of cream cheese and fluff! And I had a steak eggs benedict. All tasty and I think everyone agreed that we could eat there again if the opportunity arises.

After dropping them back at their house, I made a quick stop at my house to drop off my leftovers and to pick up my traffic ticket paperwork. Then I headed over to Canandaigua to see what I could find out about my ticket.

My intial thought had been to go find a DA and see if they could help me with my concerns. I stopped in the first building and was guided to the courthouse. There, I was stopped at security, where they were asking what my business was. I told them I was hoping to speak with a DA about my traffic ticket. The guards thought that was pretty unlikely. I told them I was interested in at least going up to try. Instead, one of the guards, with another guard who kept wanting to put their two cents in, tried to help me. But I was just getting more and more confused. A man walked in and guess who it was? The DA person I had called and had not heard back from. The man himself! How awesome was that. After a bit of palaver, it became clear what I needed to do. The big concern on my part was that I might have had a ticket within 18 months that would have caused me to have more problems. The solution was going to the conveniently located (at this one time) DMV office and ask for an “abstract” regarding my license. That cost me $10. Sigh.

It showed only the current ticket – which meant to me that the prior ticket had been over 18 months ago. Woo hoo. My next step was to head home and do some scanning. And on the way home, I stopped at the cool lawn displays. Ta da!

At home, I scanned my ticket and my abstract, shrunk them a little because 10megs per image was a little bit of overkill and mailed them off. I got a response in about half an hour, which was much less than the two weeks that the security guard had said I would have to wait. Now I have to do another one of those tedious courses and pay $80. And I think that is all I have to do. That would be nifty. I will do the course on Sunday I think.

At home, I didn’t do a lot. Well, I went grocery shopping for garbage bags and some pepitas. I ended up with a bunch of snack food – in addition to the two things I went to the store for. Sigh.

I also did some reading. I am enjoying Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch. I don’t know if I will finish it this weekend, but I do have another library book in the cue. And another book on hold. Though I might not actually read the second book as I have already listened to it at least twice. But I think it will have a continuation of a subplot that has been a part of all the hard copies of the book series I have read so far. Yes, I am talking about This Inevitable Ruin from the Dungeon Crawler Carl (and Donut) series. We shall see.

Tomorrow, at least two people are coming to check out the house in hopes that I will throw them some work. Anything is possible. Sunday, a trip to Auburn and back. Monday, more driving for others. Later in the week, another airport pick up. Feels busy to me.

Augustus for President: I think I connected with a couple of people today. The big thing, though, was showing the very rough, very first draft of a potential speech for my candidacy to JC. He liked it. Mostly. And EC will read it and hopefully have some feedback too. It’s a start! We all agreed that the stickers are fun, but not ideal yet. I will tweek them some more before I order another set.

Please do the surveys. There are four of them up now!
