That was different. When I went to sleep last night I was looking forward to a day of dashing – no fuss, no weirdnesses. Just two dashes and then some dinner. That was my plan. It might not have been exciting, but it would have been pleasant I think. Not that my day was not still pleasant, it was. But it was much different than I had planned.

To begin with, my first dash was very odd. I only did 9 offers. That isn’t very many. But I did really well financially! That was weird. A couple of long drives that were well compensated. And I had a ride that took me back to Geneva from Waterloo. And then I kept getting rides while I was a long distance from the pickup location. Door Dash adds quite a premium to those which is nice. All in all, I drove a decent amount and made out well. I even quit about half an hour early. Why? Well…

As I was getting ready to head out to my first dash, I got a text from JC asking if I could spare an hour to help him with computer stuff. I said I could, which adjusted my whole day’s plans. That’s why I quit early, so I would have some time to eat lunch and maybe charge a bit before heading to JC’s.

My main task there was to help him change his email password. He says this happens anually. Whereas EC says that she has not been required to change her password for as long as she can remember. Weird since they both worked for the same place and have their email addresses through that place. It was actually pretty straightforward and easy to do – for me. I can see why JC had a hard time doing it. After we finished with the email, we worked on getting rid of captions on their TV. They have a complex set-up: TV, Spectrum Cable Box, and Apps on the TV. Of course there were at least three places to turn off captioning. Which was a bit beyond JC’s brain acceptance level. We got them all turned off for now. I’ve told them to call me if they want them turned on or are watching an app that still has them on. I doubt they will take me up on that, but at least I offered.

From there, I headed home and opted to charge until 4 pm. Good thing I did! I got one bad ride for my first ride. It wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t at least $5. My next ride was a surprise: a lot of money to pick up from a place I didn’t think did door dash and to drive it up towards Phelps. One doesn’t learn the destination until after one has accepted an offer. The Deluxe Grill just started doing Door Dash. So I think that Door Dash is making sure the first few orders from there get delivered. So they paid me a large amount to drive the order to Clifton Springs. Which is not too far from Phelps. Which meant I could ask SS, my erstwhile helper, if she still wanted a ride – and wanted it today instead of tomorrow. Which she did.

I drove to Clifton, dropped off the food and then picked SS up in Phelps. There was a bit of road that was extremely slippery which neither of us liked too much. She got her prescription at Walmart and agreed with my notion to take a safer route back to Phelps. It was a couple of minutes longer, but it is a much busier route – so the roads were better! Huzzuh!

By the time I had done all that driving, I was down to about 18% charge. I decided I was done dashing and headed to Los Amigos to get food for dinner. It’s waiting for me in the oven keeping warm. Woo hoo!

All in all, a profitable and a good day. Not what I had expected. And so far, I have not been punished for my good deed. Beyond not getting any $ from SS for the ride. I saved her $40+ dollars in Uber and not a whisper of offering any recompense. Sigh. Kids these days…

Well that’s just not fair. I’m playing a cryptogram app on my phone and the puzzle turned out to have the whole first sentence of the answer in Latin. What kind of crap is that? Grrrr

The lake was getting whipped by the wind!
