Ribs and Things

Last night I made 3 lbs of ribs for dinner. They turned out pretty well. And I have enough leftovers for days. I will start eating them on Monday. I have dinner plans tonight. Not plans with someone (poo), I just have food that is leftover that needs to be eaten. And tomorrow night I am having dinner with SM. After helping her with her tech issues. Anyway, I had two different BBQ sauces and used each on half of the ribs. I made way too many fries. I guess. Sigh. Can there ever really be too many fries? Baked beans (one of my comfart, er, comfort foods. Not that I needed comforting). And some coleslaw. Store bought. All in all a tasty meal! Woo hoo! And not that much work, really.

My meal last night

I woke up this morning and started to play. And that’s what I did most of the day. I even retrained one of my characters. I have two more to retrain. And it looks like each retraining costs more and more. Good thing I only have two that I need to retrain! I am almost caught up to where I was before i started over. And I think I am in a better spot in terms of character development, weaponry, armor, health, etc. The next bit (after the bit I am in right now) is a tough part. I have to defeat the gippers (people living with a weird Ronald Reagan based philosophy). And there are a lot of them! Sigh. We shall see how everything is going after I finish these next two bits. Which I will probably do tonight.

I took two breaks. Well, three, I guess. One was for lunch. I made myself another tasty grilled cheese sandwich. I even had a pickle with it. (I found that I had a lone pickle sitting in a jar in the fridge. It’s now in my belly.) Then I took a break that included reading the last bit of the second Emily Wilde books. I am looking forward to the third, which is sitting on the floor of my bedroom. But I will read the first book in the new to me series first. Variety, don’t you know. It is called The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. Interesting title. And my last break was spent working on the GLO mailing list. I think it is in good shape. I have a few questions which I will pose to the group and then we can move forward on that.

My plan for the day, that I made a few days ago, did not come to fruition. I did not head out and try the two beer places that I have in my sights. Although it wasn’t actually cold out, it was cool and grey. And I just didn’t feel like going out. Which is fine. I hope to try again next weekend if the weather cooperates. And I had a dandy time here, not going out. So it worked out. Revised plan I guess.

It is dinner time here at the Chalet. I am having the last of the Mexican food for dinner. I thought the Xanga was good – but not really worth the $$ to me. If I want to have deep fried cheesecake again, I will make it myself. Or buy a cheesecake and make it with that. Anyway, food time!

Thank you for stopping by! Comments and questions are always welcome and encouraged!

Yay. Snow in late March. Woo hoo.

We had something resembling snow today. Sort of a snow and hail hybrid. When it first started coming down, I wasn’t sure what was happening. The precipitation acted like hail, little teeny balls of snow. At times, it was snowing hard enough that driving was a bit hazardous. But over all, it was just weird and not at very inconvenient.

Look, mom, snow?

For some reason, WordPress is acting weird today. Sigh. On my phone it wouldn’t load this picture so I could edit it. And when I edited it on my laptop, it got small, not only from the cropping, but from the pixel depth. And it automatically showed up as the featured image somehow. You know what? I really couldn’t care too much less.

So, a two dash day. Both were decent. Though the second one could have been great, if four of my last five dashes hadn’t been absolute crap. Three no tippers. And one, a regular customer, who consistently tips too little. If they had all tipped decently, I would have had a great shift. As it was, it was good. I stopped a little early which made me happy. I didn’t want to get any more bad dashes.

One dasher today completely blew my mind. No tip to get an order from a restaurant 8 miles away and bring it back! No tip! At all!!! Luckily, I was already out there, so I took the ride. Door dash compensated me a bit. Not enough, of course, but still, better than nothing on what would have otherwise been a dead head return. But if the offer had been only $2 I probably wouldn’t have taken it.

On my way back from one dash, I stopped in at Big Alice to see my trivia friends who still play there. They have spiffy new answer sheets. And there was a table right across the front of the trivia area, where before there had just been another barrel table. Interesting. I didn’t stay long as I was still working, but it was great to see them!

My “Beatles” birthday (64) is coming up next month. In just a little bit really. I am trying to figure out what I want to do. One thing I know I won’t be doing is dashing. Lots of options. I just hope that the one I pick isn’t “sitting around at home doing what I often do.” Though that isn’t a bad option, imho. I probably won’t cook the duck that night, since it is a Tuesday. I’ll probably cook it that weekend. (After my birthday – I should live so long…)

I think I need to make a quiche! I have a lot of eggs. And I haven’t made one in a long time. And I like quiche – egg pie. When I made them more frequently, I often used them as garbage collectors – taking a lot of leftovers and tossing them in. Right now, though, I don’t have a lot of leftovers. We shall see what happens this weekend. Maybe I will have some leftovers to use up. I don’t think I want to make a Taco quiche though…

Tonight, I am going to have Taco Salad! I don’t really have a lot of stuff to go into the salad. But that’s ok, I have the taco meat. Some lettuce. Some cheese. Some salsa (I bought some corn salsa – how’s that for going outside my comfort zone?). And some sour cream. I think taco salads from restaurants have more stuff. Oh well. I am not a restaurant.

Tomorrow is my Friday and I am very happy about that. I really, really like having three day weekends!
