Guess who read some of his book today? That’s right, I did! Woo hoo! I am liking this book a lot so far. And it is the first in a series of books about the same character and world. I might just have to read as many of them as I can find from my local library system. The series is called The Rivers of London and the author is Ben Aaronovitch. The first book, the one I am reading currently, is Midnight Riot.
I just read that Aaron Sorkin and I were both born in 1961. Our lives have been very different.
Today has been a quiet and easy day. I got up at a reasonable time, did my Duolingo and read a bit. Then I headed to Auburn after picking JC and EC up. We decided to go to Pavlos’s again. We all had breakfast food. I had french toast, eggs and bacon and it was tasty! I asked for a bit of cream cheese as I like to put it on my french toast – and waffles when I have them. Two people got omelets. And TC got the Slam – which included pancakes. EC also bought a shirt. I might have to buy one as well. If we go there again…
Now I am back home and not doing much of anything. I will, at some point, take a shower and strip and make my bed. And maybe do a load of laundry. I did two loads last night. Go me! Some of the clothing even got put away! Yes, some of it is just in piles around my bedroom. I might head out to the bar for a drink and some pool tonight. We shall see how I feel when that time of night rolls around.
I have an airport run tomorrow afternoon. So I will dash in the morning. And maybe in the afternoon a bit if the timing of the ride works out.
Time has passed and I am feeling a little peckish. Leftovers and a salad for dinner tonight. And then…I am staying in. I took my shower and instead of putting on real clothes, I put on a t-shirt and a pair of pajama bottoms. I will finish the blog, eat some dinner and then retreat to my room for the evening. Do some more reading, watch something on the box and have a restful evening. When I am president (hey, it’s possible) I won’t have a lot of down time I am guessing.
Augustus for President: I had a few thoughts today. One was that the speech I make at each capital needs to be pretty much identical for the first 60 seconds at least. Then it can go anywhere. And the whole speech can’t be very long. Maybe 5 minutes, tops. Each of those will be posted somewhere – probably youtube and social media like Instagram and Threads. Maybe I will restore my tiktok – despite it now being a propaganda arm of the Drumpf white house. And X despite it being a MAGA social media platform now. Then, when all of the capitals have been visited, I will get a campaign ad edited out of them. That’s a plan, don’t you think?
I chatted with two people at the diner today – one was a Catholic priest and the other was a nice older gentleman. I gave them both stickers. And they seemed interested in my candidacy. I have been telling people – if they see my name on the ballot, to at least consider voting for me.
Here’s another thought I had. No state is a battleground state for me. Or rather, every state is a battleground state. I am definitely doing a 50 state press for my candidacy.
