Jury Duty?

I am not amused. Not that I am morally opposed to participating in a jury. But I don’t think our justice system is really all that hot. It generally seems to boil down to who has the most money. In many cases, it is the government who has the most money. The rich rarely have to actually show up to court. And I don’t really like helping to send poor people to prison. But the call isn’t until the end of the month. Anything can happen between now and then.

So, er, excited?

I got up this morning and did a dashing shift. And it was decent. Not great, not terrible. One bad thing was I got offered a ride for NAPA only to get there and once again have it already have been picked up. That sucks. I wonder why and how that happens. Not that I will ever know…

After that shift, I came home and puttered around. I cleaned the kitchen eventually. And did some other chores – like putting in my replacement car registration. I couldn’t find the paper part (but I did find my title!), so I ordered a whole new set. Sigh. Getting the sticky stuff off from that part of the windshield was not the most fun I have had in the car. But it got done. I have added real windex to my shopping list. I know, I know, I am old fashioned…I also listened to my book, had lunch and thought deep thoughts (i.e. I took a nap).

At around 5:20pm I started to head out to Rochester to pick TC up from his trip to visit his sister. I checked the flight and was surprised and a bit dismayed that it was anticipated to arrive 15 minutes early! Poo! And sure enough, when I was still about 15 minutes away from the airport, TC called to tell me that he was waiting for his bag and would be out at the pick up place soon. I told him how far away I was, but he still called me about 30 seconds before I was pulling up. Crowded pick up place!

Instead of driving right home, we stopped at McDonald’s and got some food. This was my second McDs meal this month! Craziness. But that’s what he wanted to eat. And who am I to argue?

On the drive home we did some chatting and listened to some music. He liked the older rock music that Siri plucked from my music library. But didn’t really seem too thrilled with the classical bit that snuck in there. Oh well. We all survived.

Now I am home and trying to get done with my Duolingo and blogging. And there we are!

ASS for president – I copied the URLs and Search strings for some information I was seeking and added them to my “Resources” in my ASS for president doc. One thing I was looking at was to see if there was money from the Government available. There was, but, in the greater scheme of things – not that much. They offer around $125m in matching funds I think if I was skimming the info with a modicum of comprehension. Which would mean I would have about $250m in funds. Biden’s campaign apparently spent $800m on advertising alone! Holy potatoes!! Early days. So much to do, but I have a lot of time to do it. Not as much as I could use, but doable, I think.

Lots of Driving

Today was a driving day. Poor car was driven all over hell and gone.

It started with a dash shift. Luckily, it wasn’t a dash shift filled with long distance dashes. My first five or so dashes were all from McDonalds! That was weird. But that kind of thing seems to happen often enough. I’ve had it happen with McDonalds, Water Street, Dunkin, CF Luffy, Man Yuan, Main Moon…A lot of Hand it to Me’s today, too. One person gave me a post delivery tip of $10 which helped my $$ total a lot! I always worry that perhaps they meant to only give me $1. Oh well. It’s mine now! Hahahahahaha

At home for my lunch break, which seemed to pass more quickly than some, I decided I would have the rest of the McDonald’s food for lunch. Another Quarter Pounder and a batch of fries. These fries I decided to bake rather than deep fry and I think they were actually better that way. They are way too thin to be refried.

Then, off to Auburn to pick TC up. I got to listen to my book on the way there. TC was ready and we were soon off to the ROC airport. He’s a funny guy. He says, let’s converse and then doesn’t say a word. So, I talk. And ask him questions when one occurs to me. He had the same response to me running for President (Augustus for President – 2028) as most everyone so far. He laughed. I pointed out that Drumpf had been elected and I was better suited to the job than he was in just about every way. Aren’t I? The drive was easy, despite a good sized thunderstorm that soaked the car as we left Auburn.

At the airport, I parked in hourly parking and we headed in. The flight had been delayed about an hour which was frustrating. But we got him checked in. And after “talking” for about half an hour, I sent him through security. I hope he makes it safely to his sister’s! I pick him up on the 14th!

Flers

On the way back home, I listened to more of the book. It is getting towards the end. I guess I will just have to buy the next one as well…

Now that I am home, it is too late to dash. I am a little surprised that the car made it through that whole trip without having to stop at a supercharger. Yes, I did arrive at home with only 8% of the charge left. But that was plenty for the nothing I have to do tonight!

No big plans for the evening. More Ted Lasso and more DCC probably. And dinner. More chicken and broccoli and salad. So exciting.

Tomorrow is another day. Since I am not doing any dashing, I can work on my To Do list. I might have found someone to help me out around the house. See, it doesn’t hurt to ask. And I have to go to the library and run a few other errands. I think I will go on a $2 hunt as well. Why not? I get to go to dinner with SM later in the day. She suggested the BBQ place down the lake. It was funny. She made out like she was telling me about it. And maybe in her head she was. I had suggested it to her months ago, and suggested that she take Randy there since he liked BBQ. Which she did. And she is willing to go again. Yippee! I am looking forward to trying it out!

Tomorrow I am also going to reach out to the two people I know who have done a campaign recently and see if they have any helpful things to tell me. And I think I am going to do some research so I can move forward on one of the many fronts I have to move forward on. Yes, I am being nebulous, but will explain more as time goes by. Happy My Friday!

I didn’t Expect Today to be So Today Like

I can sew a bit. Not a lot. But I can and have done a button or two – and some other things. Sadly, I can’t find any of the huge amount of sewing stuff that I have in the house. I know it is here somewhere. I’ll keep looking but it makes me a little frustrated. I want to sew a pillow that my mom made 30/40 years ago. It has a little tear in one of the seams. Grrr.

Fler

Today was a day for sure. Not at all what I expected. I had thought it would be a quiet two dash day, with some leftovers for dinner and then an evening of Ted Lasso and Carl and Donut. The last part will still happen, I am sure. And the dinner, well, that would be getting ahead of myself.

I woke up around 9:20am. With an expected start to dashing around 9:30am! Oops. But I made it out and had a very pleasant dash. Barely any distance traveled. Lots of short, profitable trips. And I got home at a decent time.

Not a lot on my todo list for the lunch break. And not much charging either. I had a good amount of time to listen to my audiobook.

In my second dash, I had a little time to read. I am still working through the book of short stories that SM gave me. I still don’t get the point of the stories. All little slice of life vignettes. Ok, I guess. I wonder if the author has written other stuff. I would like to avoid that if possible.

My second dash was going ok until I accepted an offer of $9.50 for 8 miles, someplace south of Waterloo. I put the address in my car’s GPS and it came back with a place in Vermont (I think). So I tried entering it by hand. That didn’t work either. So I called the customer. Turns out that she somehow ordered from the McDonald’s in Waterloo, though she lived in Rochester, 43 miles away! Nope! I went online to Door Dash Dasher support and got an AI that wasn’t helpful. So I said I wanted to chat with an agent. There didn’t seem to be the option to call support anymore. Poo. I have the number, so if I need help, I am just calling and skipping the damn AI next time. Though even the phone has an AI that keeps asking me to explain the problem. Nope. Finally I talked with two people. One called from the customer asking me if I was willing to drive the 43 miles to deliver her food. I was not. I would if they wanted to give me $40 to do it. They did not. I asked them about my pay for the trip and they said that wasn’t their department. And they couldn’t help. That I had to contact Dasher support. I told them I was still waiting to connect with someone. Which I eventually did – after calling them directly. I got the $9.50, but it took me almost an hour to finish up with that GD order. Pastafazool!

Then my friend asked me if I was free to take a ride to Penn Yan so they could get their car from their mechanics. I said sure! They even bought us ice cream!

I got home late. Did some Duolingo and started heating leftovers. Which I had. But not from yesterday. From the botched Door Dash order. Two Quarter Pounders with cheese! And two small fries! So excited! I haven’t had McDonalds in so long, I can’t begin to guess when it was I last had it. It was tasty enough! I still have another burger and fries for later in the week. Yippee?

And that was my day. Yes, I did spend some time thinking about next steps on the ASS for president journey. And I will start to move on those on Friday I think. I still can’t accept donations, sorry. I probably won’t be able to until next year. We shall see if things happen more quickly than I think they are going to.

Been There

Today, door dash offered me a ride for $9.25 for 25 miles! Eeeek!! I looked at the map and realized that it was actually only 10 miles or so. Maybe 11. Still bad, but not that bad! So I took it. And what did I find? That the Wendy’s near Del Lago has a cool order progress display! McDonald’s tried this and gave it up. At least at the Geneva location. We shall see if it makes a comeback.

So, yes, today I did two dashes. The first was, as usual, decent. The second. Grrr. I wanted a lot of McDonald’s rides for whatever reason. How many did I get? Not one. Not a single freaking one! What the heck? Well, that isn’t strictly true. After Door Dash offered me a ride to Waterloo for decent money, I got a McDonald’s ride over there! Poo!!

McDonald’s tried this…

I was having issues with my car and phone today. The car wasn’t recognizing my phone as a key. So I had to keep opening my Telsa App and unlocking the car from there. I was thinking of restarting the car’s system, but opted to restart the Tesla app on my phone. And guess what? Troubleshooting 101 for the win. The car unlocks as I approach again! Wonders!

I almost didn’t do a decent length second dash this evening. It was snowing a bit so I looked at the weather forecast and it said more snow was on the way! And human knows I don’t like dashing in the dark and the snow. Then I realized I was looking at the NYC weather forecast. Ours just had cloudy skies. So I persevered.

We came in second at trivia tonight. And I think that was because one of the best teams was not playing this evening. We did consistently ok round after round – well, except for the first round, where we bombed in the answers to the pictures, but a lucky guess gave us the bonus question. Woo hoo! Yes, we played trivia. I was just feeling like some socializing and some brain stretching. PV and M agreed to join me. Should we do it again sometime soon? I am thinking towards the end of the month. Not next week. Thoughts?

After the game, M and I debated the question of whether Elon is a scam artist and only in it for money, or if he really is trying to make the world a better place. M thinks he is a scam artist, or at best trying to create a better world for 1000 years in the future. I think that Elon is trying to create the best world he can in (t)his lifetime. Because he is a selfish prick in many ways…then we got into a whole discussion about language. Very clever how he (M) changed subjects…

Tomorrow is a short work day. Woo hoo! Lots to do between 2 and 5 pm tomorrow afternoon. I hope I can get it all in. And tomorrow, if I remember, I will right about massive changes in taxation here in NYC, at least where I am concerned…
