I thought some streaming platforms were more money grubbing than others. But it feels like Disney is the most money grubbing. I bought their premium Disney+ and Hulu bundle. The one movie I want to watch on Hulu isn’t available unless I add another subscription – one for live TV. What? It’s a movie. It isn’t live. Why do I need to add a further subscription. And don’t get me started on the hassle it was to get Hulu up and running. Hoops after hoops. Sigh.

Today is Sunday all day. Yippee? I am debating not working tomorrow and working Friday instead. We shall see how I feel tomorrow morning when I open my little eyes.

After playing until lunch time, I heated up four empanada like things for my midday meal. I added a dill pickle and some chips. Yum!

My empanada like things

After lunch, I stripped and remade my bed, took a shower and tossed a load of laundry into the washing machine. It’s a clean(ing) machine.

So far, I think I have done a few good things for the house. But if I am going to sell it when I am around 75 (I should live so long), there is a bunch more that I think I would like to do. That is another ten years. So I have to figure out what makes sense. For instance, it might not make sense to go solar after all if I am only going to be using that system for 10 years. I think adding a ground floor bathroom would be good. And swapping one of the bathtubs out for a walk in shower would be good as well. And, if I plan to keep having a boarder and keep having an electric car, then adding a second parking spot in the front of the house would be a good thing – though JM suggested adding a gravel driveway and parking space in the back. Also a possibility.

What have I done, so far, to make life here in the Chalet more comfortable? Well, the new furnace (thank you SM for the help – please let me know when you want to be repaid) is a good thing. And I think turning the screened in side porch into a glassed in side porch is good. Also, starting the gargantuan process of cataloguing the books in the house is a good thing. 1100 books so far. And I haven’t even finished cataloguing the second floor yet. Which is the only floor that I have worked on so far.

Going forward, what do I want to do? Do I want to exercise my creativity? Yes, please. But some of the things I would like to do to exercise that creativity would take a good chunk of change. More than I have to play with, like in the case of Sirius Theatre. The other $$ project – traveling the country looking for places I like (mini golf, pool tables, brew pubs, circus stuff) would take some money. It might be within my means even if I don’t work for a year or so. I have a couple of writing projects that are in various stages of readiness. One is a book that I really would need a good editor/collaborator to get to a point where I wouldn’t mind other people seeing it. The other project needs programming expertise. But in this day and time of AI it might be obsolete before it is finished. And again, would take money.

I also, as mentioned, would like to clean out the house of as much extraneous crap as possible. The four main areas that need work are the red room, the basement (especially the basement room), the attic, and the barn. I could really use a storage area as a “sort to” space. But how large is the question? Large enough for setting up my pool table would be nice. But that size is pretty expensive. Hmm.

It seems it all circles back to money. Speaking of which, I bought some scratchers and a lottery ticket. I haven’t had much luck with them so far. I mean, a dollar here, a dollar there in “winnings.” A huge windfall would be nice.

Sigh.

I’ll do the scratch offs tomorrow and put the lottery ticket in my wallet and check it when next I am in Wegman’s. Hope springs eternal, though in the case of actually winning something from the scratch offs or the lottery ticket seems really unlikely to me. Yes, someone wins but so far, in my 64 years, it hasn’t been me.

I’ve got laundry to fold. And at some point I will have dinner, the last of my ribs and baked beans. I might actually add a small caesar salad to my meal tonight.

All in all a pleasant Sunday! I hope you had a pleasant day, too, whenever you are reading this. If you are reading this. Well, I guess you are since you are…
