I can sew a bit. Not a lot. But I can and have done a button or two – and some other things. Sadly, I can’t find any of the huge amount of sewing stuff that I have in the house. I know it is here somewhere. I’ll keep looking but it makes me a little frustrated. I want to sew a pillow that my mom made 30/40 years ago. It has a little tear in one of the seams. Grrr.
Today was a day for sure. Not at all what I expected. I had thought it would be a quiet two dash day, with some leftovers for dinner and then an evening of Ted Lasso and Carl and Donut. The last part will still happen, I am sure. And the dinner, well, that would be getting ahead of myself.
I woke up around 9:20am. With an expected start to dashing around 9:30am! Oops. But I made it out and had a very pleasant dash. Barely any distance traveled. Lots of short, profitable trips. And I got home at a decent time.
Not a lot on my todo list for the lunch break. And not much charging either. I had a good amount of time to listen to my audiobook.
In my second dash, I had a little time to read. I am still working through the book of short stories that SM gave me. I still don’t get the point of the stories. All little slice of life vignettes. Ok, I guess. I wonder if the author has written other stuff. I would like to avoid that if possible.
My second dash was going ok until I accepted an offer of $9.50 for 8 miles, someplace south of Waterloo. I put the address in my car’s GPS and it came back with a place in Vermont (I think). So I tried entering it by hand. That didn’t work either. So I called the customer. Turns out that she somehow ordered from the McDonald’s in Waterloo, though she lived in Rochester, 43 miles away! Nope! I went online to Door Dash Dasher support and got an AI that wasn’t helpful. So I said I wanted to chat with an agent. There didn’t seem to be the option to call support anymore. Poo. I have the number, so if I need help, I am just calling and skipping the damn AI next time. Though even the phone has an AI that keeps asking me to explain the problem. Nope. Finally I talked with two people. One called from the customer asking me if I was willing to drive the 43 miles to deliver her food. I was not. I would if they wanted to give me $40 to do it. They did not. I asked them about my pay for the trip and they said that wasn’t their department. And they couldn’t help. That I had to contact Dasher support. I told them I was still waiting to connect with someone. Which I eventually did – after calling them directly. I got the $9.50, but it took me almost an hour to finish up with that GD order. Pastafazool!
Then my friend asked me if I was free to take a ride to Penn Yan so they could get their car from their mechanics. I said sure! They even bought us ice cream!
I got home late. Did some Duolingo and started heating leftovers. Which I had. But not from yesterday. From the botched Door Dash order. Two Quarter Pounders with cheese! And two small fries! So excited! I haven’t had McDonalds in so long, I can’t begin to guess when it was I last had it. It was tasty enough! I still have another burger and fries for later in the week. Yippee?
And that was my day. Yes, I did spend some time thinking about next steps on the ASS for president journey. And I will start to move on those on Friday I think. I still can’t accept donations, sorry. I probably won’t be able to until next year. We shall see if things happen more quickly than I think they are going to.
