Not so Black Friday

My T-Day plate

Happy Day after Thanksgiving. I hope that everyone who celebrated had a great time. I had a very pleasant evening. And had fun trying (and not really succeeding) to get everything to be done and hot at the same time! The turkey was a tad overdone, I think. Still, I do like deep frying it. Maybe next year I will listen to my inner chef and cut the darn breast into smaller chunks since my deep fryer, though large, isn’t that large! The stuffing box made enough stuffing for a family of twenty! The Brussels sprouts turned out pretty tasty as usual. And both potato dishes were good. All in all, yay.

And here we are on Black Friday. Not what it used to be, with door buster sales. Do brick and mortar stores still do this? I did succumb to the self imposed pressure yesterday and bought myself a new toy. It is supposed to come on Monday.

I am at home, in bed and don’t really want to do anything. But I also want to feel like I am being productive. So, I am writing a bit of my daily blog. And then, I am going to read! It is the one of the best ways of doing nothing and being productive at the same time, imho. (I didn’t read. I did work on the Finelo app – learning about stocks – much of which I already know…)

If I am going to dash for another year (as it looks like I might be doing), I am going to start another spreadsheet. I’ll keep both going until the end of March and then just keep the one going for a year. Why? Because I like spreadsheets and it keeps me engaged. I like that. This one is going to be more micro in scale. I would like to see what the tipping versus everything else really is.

For some reason there was the aroma of baking cookies in the house. Which is weird since I haven’t baked cookies for a while now. But, that made me think of french toast. So I decided to have French toast for lunch. Until just now. When I chose to have leftovers for lunch. And then make breakfast, featuring stuffed french toast for dinner instead. If I ever get out of bed that is…when do I get my personal robot who will bring me my lunch in bed? Hmm?

Yay! I have a plan for the rest of the evening. I like it when that happens. And I am executing it. Including getting this blog out before I start dinner. Woo hoo! And I did eventually get out of bed.

I put down the storm windows where they weren’t already down. It looks like we are going to be below freezing for much of the next two weeks here in beautiful Geneva. Brr. Good thing I have long underwear. I took a quick trip out to take in SM’s mail before she came back today. (She had gotten a lot of packages this week!!) And I found my hat and gloves. Happy to say that the gloves work the touch screen in the car! Woo hoo! Next up, a quick shower and then cooking. I haven’t made French toast in a while. But it is pretty easy, really. Bacon, a couple of over easy eggs, and a hash brown patty to round out the meal. So excited! I love breakfast foods.

It Begins!

The houses and yards are getting decorated! I guess it is almost some holiday or other. Who knows. Anyway, saw this one and thought it worthy of a picture. There are lots of decorated houses. And they are so varied. From the simple (even more simple than this) to the truly awesome. I think the house on West Street is doing even more this year! Maybe I will pay for an entry if they have tours. We shall see.

It’s begun!

Today was the last two dash day of the week. Huzzuh! Both dashes were decent. One funny thing happened late in my second shift. I had picked up one of two orders from Char Burrito and I was heading to pick up an order at Man Yuan, when I noticed that I had the Char Burrito order in my hand. I am so used to delivering food, that I instinctively took the order with me when I got out of the car. Definitely a sign that I need to develop a different way of earning money.

One crappy thing also happened. Luckily not crappy in a physical or mental harm sort of way. This was a ride that I was offered and took. The offer was presented to me as $6.25 for about 6 miles. Not great, but I was doing ok fiscally so I thought “why not.” I picked up the order and entered the address into the car’s navigation system and…it wasn’t six miles by car – but by flying car! Alas my Tesla does not yet fly. So I had to drive. 10 miles one direction!! This has happened a few times and it is really irksome. A bad ride turns into a terrible ride. I even called and complained to dasher support. Hopefully they will fix this issue. Grrr.

I have eaten already. I had an omelet. Well, half of an omelet. And guess who forgot he had pork still in the fridge? Yes, this guy. I hope it will still be good on Saturday which is my next meal at home opportunity. Anyway, with the omelet, I had a hash brown (a frozen patty like hash brown), an English muffin and two left over buffalo chicken wings that I hadn’t eaten. I am always fighting entropy by trying to eat what is in the fridge and letting nothing go to waste.

And I have done my Duolingo. Spanish mostly today. Working on a quest to finish 50 lessons with more than a 90% correct score. Percolating along. My partner has been known to do many lessons in a day sometimes, so hopefully they will finish it up for us in a timely fashion.

I watched all of Nobody Wants This starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brodie. I have always liked Kristen Bell. Adam Brodie…he’s ok. It was a good show, overall. First season. We shall see if there is another one. Now I have nothing I am dying to watch. I am saving the final Last Kingdom movie for this weekend. So, I guess I will just watch whatever happens to cross my path tonight.

Happy Thursday! Tomorrow is another exciting day!
