While dashing down the back road towards Waterloo and Seneca Falls, I saw the car in front of me get into an accident with a deer. From my vantage point I saw the deer jump onto the road, almost in front of the other car. I don’t know if I or the Tesla would have been able to avoid it. The deer was a buck and had a head full of horns, so it should have known better. I am guessing it was going to die, but I didn’t go to check on it. I did check on the driver. All of his airbags had deployed and he was ok. The car was not in good shape. I tried to open the driver’s side door and it wouldn’t open. He crawled out a back door and had a phone and seemed ok. I told him that if he was asked, he should say he wanted the deer…He told me I didn’t need to wait with him. Which is good since I had a delivery order in the car. Scary, though.

It was a two dash day. Though it wasn’t supposed to me. I was supposed to take someone to Olean this morning. I didn’t sleep well because the drive was to be early and I didn’t want to miss it. Around 6:15 am she texted me and said she wasn’t going after all as she was feeling unwell. We shall see if the ride she had tentatively scheduled for Wednesday happens or not. No worries either way. I did get a bit more sleep. Still, it was a little frustrating.
Instead of that, I did two not great dashes. Well, I guess they were pretty good because I didn’t hit a deer! Altogether, I almost made my lowest goal for two shifts. Whatever. I can’t really be bothered. Any funds are better than no funds. I got to do some reading. Both in a tangible book and in an audio book.
The audio book is book four, The Shadow Rising, in the Wheel of Time series. I think it is one of my favorite books of the series. Lord of Chaos is pretty great too. 6-12 are a bit of a slog. I have listened to them at least once before on CD but that was a long, long, long time ago. Maybe even 1999. Or at the latest 2002. The hard cover book is Rusted Robots, which I started long ago (months?) and am about a third of the way through. Yay reading. Though at some point I will need to start seriously reading some serious books that are seriously good for me and the campaign instead of all this fun reading. Sigh.
I have a new stack of photos to digitize. I found an envelope full of pictures and was wondering whether or not I had digitized them as they looked familiar. Luckily, someone, me, scrawled on the envelope that I had in fact digitized them back in April. Huzzuh!
During lunch I headed to visit JC and EC to give them back their blind that I fixed. Not the easiest thing to re-hang. We had a nice talk about the two books I recently gave him. He read them both! He had good insights. After that, he offered me lunch and the three of us ate and chatted, which was lovely.
I zipped back home and only had about 15 minutes to do things around here. Not enough time to do much of anything. Oh well.
While out and about I saw that someone had a storage container – like the containers that people ship things in – in their driveway. Maybe I will get one of those and stick all the stuff I was going to put in the storage shed I was planning on buying as an interim measure. Where I’d put it I don’t really know, though. Just thinking out loud…
And here I am home again. I have done my Duolingo and am finishing the blog post. Dinner will be leftover pasta, a side salad and a piece of garlic cheese toast. So excited!
Augustus for President: I thought of a lot of things to add to the database – and thence to the campaign or to governing thoughts. And I remembered a few things through chatting with JC and EC. Like fix it rooms in schools. Such a great idea. I don’t know where I read about it, but I think it is a no-brainer!
