Like A Bandit!

I made out like a bandit today on everything except money. But I did ok there too.

It was a two dash day, as usual for a Wednesday. But instead of my first shift being from 9:30 until 12:30, I dashed from 8 until 11. And boy howdy was that bad. I had four rides and barely made any money. But I did it for two reasons – one as an experiment to see how much picking the right times matters and two because I was later giving a friend a ride to the airport. I wanted to have lots of juice (electricity) for the trip so that when I eventually made it back to Geneva, I had enough energy to do a lot of long trips while dashing. Though now that I am generally dashing only 3 hours instead of 3.5 hours a shift, it isn’t that big a worry for me. Anyway, I probably won’t dash from 8-11 again anytime soon if I don’t have to!

The ride to the airport was fun. LL is interesting to talk with. He offered to give me money for the ride, but he had already said he was going to take us out to dinner a few times to help repay me for the time and trips. So I turned his offer down. Food is good enough for me where he is concerned.

After I dropped him off, I went and charged more at the Victor/Eastview Mall Superchargers. Some driver had blocked three stalls because they were towing a camper. Grrr. But I found an open post and charged a good bit before heading back to Geneva.

My second dash was decent. But I made out like a bandit in terms of stuff! I got a $4 cash tip from a regular. I got two more Dungeon Crawler Carl books out of the library (I hope movies are being worked on for this series)(Or a TV series even…)(TV series apparently). And I was rewarded with a piece of wedding cake for dropping something off for LD. Woo hoo!

My ill gotten gains!

Three more little dashing things – I know, the most fascinating subject ever! First, I misread an offer – I thought it said $8.50 but when I delivered the stuff, the offer was only $3.50. I may be blind, but I didn’t think I was that blind. I would never have done that ride for $3.50. All the way to Dunkin in Waterloo! Nope! Oh well. I survived, obviously.

While at the Geneva Dunkin, someone recognized me from Wegman’s. She said it a few times. And to be honest, I didn’t recognize her at all. Sigh.

Lastly, I was at the Speedway in downtown Waterloo and the guy working there had the same size phone, the same cover on his phone, and his birthday was the same as mine. Different year, obviously. And we did not have the same name. So, still weird, right?

Onward! I am going to do more reading and more playing tonight. So excited. But that happens after more tacos for dinner!

Look, I ate Cake!

My “birthday” cake

Yes, I bought myself a birthday cake. But I was not so lame that I put a candle on it and blew it out. That would have just been way over the top sad. I did, though, eat half of it. In three goes btw. I did not just sit down and eat half of it! I will probably try to finish it tonight because most cakes get stale really quickly once they are cut into. It was pretty darn tasty. Thank you Wegman’s.

I took another day off today. Mainly because yesterday was kinda lame. Only in that I was thwarted in what I wanted to do by the weather and a chicken-assed masseuse. Other than that, though, the day was pretty pleasant.

And today, more of the same. I managed to get all the dishes, and glasses!, washed. And the pans. I did not clean the stove top. That will wait for Friday or Saturday.

Part of the reason I stayed home today was because there was a flurry of activity around GLO and getting things (tickets for the show (in July) and banquet (in May)) linked to the home page to sell. All I had to actually do was to add some links and buttons to the main page of the GLO website. But it all took an hour of me doing it and thinking about.

And for some reason, the urgency behind the mailing list amped up from 0 to 100. I had gotten a message saying that we were sharing our mailing list with someone by April 18. The date she actually requested. Then suddenly she wanted it for April 9 apparently. And the person who had taken over the mailing list threw up their hands and said that it was now my responsibility. I told them, fine, but I won’t be able to get to it until this weekend. And they sent a pile of crap to the poor woman. Sigh.

I will still work on it this weekend. The mailing list as designed is way too complicated for most people to use – especially people who aren’t comfortable with complex spreadsheet design. My plan is to take all the info that we have. Sort and cull. And then make the sheet way simpler. And go forward from there. We shall see if that happens.

Other than that, it was a quiet day. My soc sec check arrived so I spent a bit of it to help me smile. Not that I need much help since I am quite a happy person for the most part. Happiness is, mostly, a choice. In my humble opinion. Again, no reading. I will try to crank through the book this weekend as well.

Oh, and it is duck weekend. I am so excited! I still haven’t decided whether to do a Chinese style duck or a french style. Leaning towards French.

I played some more Wasteland 3 today. Of course there are things I haven’t figured out, like how to cure poisoning. Still, learning the quirks of a game is half the fun in my humble opinion. (imho). I’ll play more over the weekend.

Ok, time for some Duolingo. And then either quiche or my leftover Reuben from the other night. I want to add some more swiss cheese to it and see if that helps. The corned beef was weird. It sort of had the mouth feel of already masticated food. That wasn’t pleasant. And there was not nearly enough swiss cheese. I wonder if there was any…
