MLK Holiday

Hey, don’t blame me, blame the government for making today a holiday. Oh, and the weather turned bitterly cold. Again. And the roads aren’t in perfect condition. And I just don’t wanna go dash today. So, I am not doing it. Just staying home. I hope to tackle the rest of the bedroom tonight – clean up the computer area and do some actual vacuuming. I even got a vacuum into the room in anticipation of that exciting event. It’s early times yet.

And I have a plan for dinner. I don’t think I have any leftovers to speak of. My boarder has the fridge filled with stuff, so I guess I will do an inventory of that as well at some point. I have till 5 when she is supposed to return.

One of the things I like about the Apple Universe is that when I make a reminder on any of my devices, all my devices know about it. I go on my laptop and work through them – because some of them are computer based items. Like today I wanted to look at my iCloud folder since it was apparently getting full. There is a lot of crap there and I will, someday, clean it all out. Today I just removed a couple of big things from it. Woo hoo. Next up was connecting my airpods to my TV. Yes, my new TV has bluetooth. But my airpods didn’t have a set up button. Silly of me to not realize that I could tap on the front of the case to turn on pairing. Sigh. But I did it. Now, how to change the output from the TV…I figure it is nice of me, if I want to listen to something fairly loudly, to be able to do it through my airpods, to allow my boarders/guests to not have to hear it.

I’ve gotten the floor vacuumed in my bedroom. And cleaned up one of my two desks. Still a couple of things to do before my boarder returns. And then, I am again, chickening out of going to hang out someplace before getting food. I am going to get food from Los Amigos downtown and toyed with the idea of going to get a beer someplace before hand…but, (imaging chicken sounds)

Two more little missions accomplished. I neatened up the computer/desk area a teeny bit. I still have a bag and a box to go through. Maybe I will sort those this evening while I watch things that are not keeping my interest. And I looked in the fridge. I don’t have any leftovers in there! Woo hoo! I do have a bunch of lettuce I should eat…

The kitchen sink is empty again. That’s a good thing.

Tonight, I am having Mexican food as I had mentioned earlier. I opted for chimichangas, chicken. Not as much food as when I order the house fajitas. We’ll see what happens next time I go there. I must admit that their chips are better than the ones at Monterey Mexican in the plaza.

Pretty tasty! More deeply fried would be cool by me…

And there we have it. Surprisingly late blog for a holiday post!

Not On My Lawn!

Not on my lawn!

I drive past this scene of mayhem at least once a day. I just thought it was funny.

Recently I bought myself a pair of Airpods from Apple. I don’t listen to a lot of music through them. I mostly use them when I am navigating either in the car or on the street. And when I make phone calls in the car. Today, though, was the first time that I used them both at the same time. Usually I only use one ear at a time. But this time, I decided to put them both in. And boy was I surprised! The sound cancelling feature works really well!! I had the car windows open (it was a beautiful day today) and the wind noise was pretty ferocious. But with the Airpods in, I could barely hear it. So cool!

Also, when I have the earbuds in, I can hear the chimes for a dash despite it being plugged into this neolithic automobile. That’s a good thing. I had been worried about battery life for my phone. But not any longer in this car. Which I can, hopefully, exchange for my car tomorrow. So excited!

Last thing about the Airpods. They are already connected to the Apple TV so I can use them instead of wired head phones next time I have guests in the room at the head of the stairs. Or guests anywhere, I guess. I do like Apple’s eco system.

Today was a two dash day. The first dash was outstanding. Not the most I have made in 3.5 hours, but close to. And the second shift was the opposite. 3.5 hours, but despite having 11 rides, I sat around for almost two hours altogether. Grrr. And my fellow dasher was lied to. It wasn’t everyone who got knocked down to Silver, it was just her for not completing enough dashes. Or something like that. Who knows. I don’t understand the whole thing…

I am soooo looking forward to getting my car back tomorrow. I will be irked if it doesn’t happen. I will call them during my shift tomorrow. Or at least before I hit the road to get up there by 2:00 pm. If I can get out of there in less than an hour, I might do an evening dashing shift. If I can’t, oh well. Life is that way sometimes. The rental does have an owie that I don’t think was there when I got the car. I hope that won’t be too expensive. Sigh. Money money money. Honey.

I watched a lot of different shows the other day. Tracker is back with new episodes. And a weird version of Matlock, starring Kathy Bates just started. I also watch some weird show about kids at the Outer Banks in NC. Not sure I will go back to that one. And one day, after finishing all 60+ episodes of the new McGyver, I will eventually go back to Vikings and the sequel show. And I am watching The British Baking Show (often copied, never equalled, imho) as episodes come out. How did we live in a world where TV was almost always only available serialized? Eeek!

Tonight is the Q3 earnings call from Tesla. And being a major (hahahaha) stock holder, I like to listen to them (the earnings calls). Which I will do after posting this.
