Not a bad day at all

I did not sleep well last night. For a variety of reasons. One of which was existential angst. But around 6 this morning, I had a potential eureka moment and that allowed me to fall asleep. For an hour and a half. Woo hoo! I am still a bit fuzzy.

So, I have been dragging all day. But, I have been trying to not be recumbent. I am doing a lot of sitting up in a chair. And I am also trying to move around more. The little bit of yoga I have been doing in the morning is not making my body as happy as it could be.

While I have been dragging around, I have been working on a few projects simultaneously. One for my campaign, which I will write more about below. And the other are just things around the house. I finally did a little bit of cleanup in the living room. And I have done some dishes. And I did a bunch of scanning. And a load of laundry. Oh, and I changed the sheets on my bed!

Laughing Buddha

I did not avail myself of two free tickets to see Spamalot up in Rochester this evening. I’m just feeling too fuzzy and the performance was scheduled to start relatively early, and I just couldn’t get my mind around going. I am a bad human.

And that’s all I’ve done. I haven’t done much thinking. Mostly just puttering a getting little things accomplished.

It looks like I will be heading to JC and EC’s on Tuesday, not Monday. So Monday might be wide open! It’s a bank holiday though…

Augustus for President: I have been doing some work on the 50+1 Capitals Tour. Mostly adding items of infromation to the pages of each state capital: when the state was settled or founded – whichever is earlier, population (as of 2024), GDP (Gross domestic Profit), Motto and Bird. I’ve gotten through the first few days at least. Maybe I will do more in the third part of the evening.

Ok, I am thinking I will get three swag type items – coasters, pens and stickers – for the 50+1 Capitals Tour. Maybe 200 of each and see what happens. I need to order them soon so that I will get them by the time I leave Geneva. My departure date is now February 9. RP has offered to let me stay inhishouse for the time I will be in DC. That is great! And very generous of him. He will be heading out on the 10th, but I can still stay until I leave on the 12th. So excited. That gives me more time in Washington, so I might go to a museum or something while I am there. It will also give me a way to ease into the trip instead of going full bore right from the start.

Every Drachma Helps – $10 will buy me a big mac meal on the road – or more likely a Bojangles meal. One of the things I miss most from North Carolina is Bojangles.

Lots of old pictures

The pictures I scanned yesterday were all of people related to my mom. And some of mom herself. I scanned at least 40 images. I think some of them might have been duplicates. A few had some writing on them, either front or back or in some cases both. They really liked their goats! I opened up the box that I found the album on top of and discovered many more photo albums from that era and before! Sadly, it doesn’t seem like any of the pictures are labeled at all. I am not going to digitize those right now because I don’t know who would look at them and have any clue who those people were. But I may digitize them someday and put them up online and see if anyone can identify any of the people in the them. Instead, I am going to look for more modern pictures and digitize some of those. I hope to find pictures of the current and previous generation. And maybe the next generation. In other words, pictures of my mom and dad, their kids and their kid’s kids. Here’s hoping!

So far this morning, I have again accomplished some good things. Most of which have been campaign related.

It is afternoon now. I ate leftovers for lunch. And will have left over pasta for dinner tonight I think. Though, on second thought, I think I will have breakfast for dinner instead and save the pasta for later in the week. Much better plan.

At some point tonight, I will digitize the more modern pictures I have found. I think they are from around 1998 if I had to guess. Some family Christmas pictures, some pictures of some road trip. And some pictures of one of my exes and our dog. And some pictures that don’t have people in them that probably won’t be digitized at this point. Certainly not all of them. There are around 90 pictures in this album. I think I will digitize about half – which is about how many I digitized yesterday.

I’ve gone flannel. I decided to start putting flannel sheets on the bed again for the winter season. Starting with a penguin set that I believe my lovely sister gave me one Christmas. Yay sheets!

Speaking of Christmas, it looks like I will be heading to Maine this year for that holiday! Huzzuh!! Back in time for New Years as SM is tentatively planning a New Year’s Eve party of some sort.

Augustus for President: I have gone through the database of thoughts once. I created a second layout so I can hopefully do some cleanup and re-categorizing and condensing and deleting where it makes sense. I love Filemaker so much!!

I did a draft of my letter to the governors for the trip in February. I will try to get that in the mail in early January. I wonder if I should email it and snail mail it. That will be determined later, I guess. I also drafted a form, like the form I used for “And the Pursuit of Happiness” trip I did back in 2002. This one has four questions instead of just the one. Basically the same questions I will be asking the governors with a tweak for people who aren’t politicians.

My first draft poster for possible meet-ups is in my folder now. I will let it rest for a bit before revisiting it.

Lastly, I updated the survey page. Though I have discovered something distressing and haven’t figured out what is happening. People have said that they have answered the surveys but for some reason their answers aren’t showing up. No idea why that is happening. I guess before I start my tour in February I will have to pay for a survey site subscription. Poo.

Three helpers came yesterday and worked on the back stairs for a few hours. It is looking really great, imho. I don’t know that the steps actually need a second coat at this point. I will see how I feel later in the week. I guess I should start cataloguing books. I hope I can get back into the swing of it. I wonder where my book imprinter is…

Looking great imho

Today has been a surprisingly good day for accomplishments. Here it is just noon and I feel like I have gotten a few things checked off of my to do list. Woo hoo!

Some of the morning was spent finishing the latest Rivers of London book: Whispers Underground. Fun stuff. I have put the next two books in the series on hold and they ought to be popping into my local library sometime next week. In the meantime, I guess I will get back to all the books that have piled up in my TBR (to be read) pile. And there was one book that I started that I believe is still in the car’s trunk.

More parts of the morning were spent working on my Filemaker database. I want to use it instead of a word processing document or spreadsheet to collect my campaign and presidential governing thoughts. I think it is in good shape. It took me a while to figure out how to get data to import correctly, but I got that worked out. And with some help from YouTube, I managed to get a drop down menu created pretty easily. So, now I am just waiting for my niece to do her magic and organize my Augustus for President Thoughts document. I’ll write her on Monday and ask her the status. Maybe she will be done. That would be cool. If not, I might just say screw it and take it back because I could just import it all into my database. All that her work will accomplish (which would be great) would be to add the type of thought to more of the items. Less work for me which is always a good thing.

Hopefully my copies of Bar Dreams will be arriving soon. It will be nice to have those back in stock.

It is later. I didn’t do a lot more, though I did a little bit towards the campaign.

Tonight’s dinner will be breakfast! I will cook a one egg cheese omelet, a hash brown, a waffle and some maple sausages. So excited! I hope my cream cheese is still good…

Augustus for President: Well, the database work was a good thing to have accomplished today. I will enter any new thoughts there. I also saw that there is a way to check one’s business account on the IRS website, so I will try that this afternoon. That should tell me if they got my letter and changed the name of the company in their files. If they haven’t, I can try calling them on Monday. I don’t want to start having get togethers with people until I can collect donations. Hahaha.

Well, that’s frustrating. I tried to get into the IRS with my EIN and I did not succeed. So I guess I will try calling them on Monday. I don’t think anyone will answer because of the shut down. But hope springs eternal. And I am now concerned about why I had to spend money to get an EIN when the IRS website says that getting an EIN is free. I am so confused about that. Oh well, it is money over the dam or something like that.
