Last night, I tried Salvatores again. I was underwhelmed. I do like how much pepperoni they put on their pizzas. The cheese is ok. The sauce is ok. The crust is ok. None of it is great. So, i guess if I want to do pizza again in Geneva, I will aim for Cam’s. I did like the deal, though: $10 for a twelve inch pizza on Monday nights. I added the pepperoni for a slight up charge. The counter person told me 20 minutes. I went back in at around 15 minutes and it was already ready. There are a couple other 10 deals I might try, but I am going to steer clear of their pizza for now. Sorry for anyone who tried them from my first recommendation for the place.
Looks better than it is
This morning, I turned up the heat before I got out of bed. I wanted to take a shower and I like neither cold weather washing or cold showers in general. I then proceeded to do my morning stuff – moving up the leaderboard in Duolingo, checking socials, seeing if there were any low hanging reminders that I could check off. A typical morning.
Though I did get a text from CC about JC and EC who I planned to visit in the afternoon. They needed some supplies from Wegmans. After my pizza and celery (gotta have some veggies now and again), I went to Wegman’s, bought a few things for both JC and EC and myself and headed to their house.
At their house, I helped them to do more culling. Some pantry stuff. And some stuff from their liquor cabinet. I don’t think either of them are doing much in the way of drinking besides some wine with dinner now and again. I also got JC a new login for his phone. Now I have that password so if JC wants to modify his phone at all, we can do it! Woo hoo! I will do EC next time. And also set up a credit card with JC’s phone in case he wants to buy something online. Baby steps. I hope that JC will remember the password. Anything is possible. I plan to head down there again this week, either Thursday or Friday if they are interested.
I think tonight’s dinner will be another slice of the chicken pot pie and a salad. Easy peasy. At the grocery store, I got some mini Heath bars which will make a good dessert. After my evening Duolingo and publishing the blog post that is.
Augustus for President: I am still puttering along with the file about the 50+1 Capitals Tour. I think I still have 30 states to go.
On my list this week is getting a dedicated phone for the campaign. And I need to come up with a good draft for a potential generic press release about the trip. And me, I guess.
I also need to sit down with the calendar and game out the two trips to Hawaii and to Alaska. Maybe I can do that tonight.
Every Mark Helps: $10 buys me a pizza from Salvatores. True, one I don’t want. But there are other daily $10 specials that I might take advantage of…
I am hoping that Drumpf hasn’t been able to stop today being MLK day. You know that he and his creepy administration would love to get rid of that. It would probably take an act of congress, though.
One thing that I spent some time on yesterday was geneology. YouTube had a piece about free Geneology tools on the internet. The first one seems a lot like Ancestry.com. But free. I like free. Sadly, a lot of the people are not in their shared database. I guess no one wants to know those ancestors. But I hope to rectify those deficiencies at some point. I don’t know how, but I will spend some time on it on the road. I am sure I will have some down time. It looks like my branch of the Alexanders did not do well. I am still hoping for some long lost cousins on that side of the family…
I got up early than is my wont this morning to give SM a ride to the airport. This is a quick trip for her. I’ll be picking her up again on Wednesday. I just drove there and back. And didn’t go back to sleep. Though I did take a nap after lunch.
I continue to plod (skip?) along getting little things accomplished. And planning (hoping) that I will get the bigger things accomplished too. Anything is possible (most things are unlikely). I did a good bit of scanning. Mostly pictures of mom from China. I am not scanning a lot of the pictures she took of places and people I don’t know. This project really is primarily about scanning in pictures of people in the Schoen-Rene sphere.
Mom being a queen!
Augustus for President: Today I started looking at coasters. Another design is called for. And they don’t come quickly unless you pay a lot. It looked, from one of the websites, that I have a few days in which to get them designed if I want them to get here before I leave. As I mentioned yesterday, I think I am going to just make 200 each of new stickers, some pens and some coasters. Though if the pens don’t happen for the 50+1 Capitals Tour, I won’t be horribly upset.
I also did more work on the document about the tour. Filling in some basic information about each state. I think I have maybe 10 completed. Only 40 more to go.
One of the many things that isn’t getting done is the press release for the tour. Do I really think that any media organization will be interested in speaking with me? Yes, I do. Certainly not MSNow or whatever it is called. But maybe a college radio station in Oregon might be interested.
Every Lira Counts: $10 can buy maybe 20 coasters (or something like that – the prices for these things run the gamut from $.01 per piece to $$ per piece). I do need a designer at some point…Hmm, maybe that is something to think about as well…
I did not sleep well last night. For a variety of reasons. One of which was existential angst. But around 6 this morning, I had a potential eureka moment and that allowed me to fall asleep. For an hour and a half. Woo hoo! I am still a bit fuzzy.
So, I have been dragging all day. But, I have been trying to not be recumbent. I am doing a lot of sitting up in a chair. And I am also trying to move around more. The little bit of yoga I have been doing in the morning is not making my body as happy as it could be.
While I have been dragging around, I have been working on a few projects simultaneously. One for my campaign, which I will write more about below. And the other are just things around the house. I finally did a little bit of cleanup in the living room. And I have done some dishes. And I did a bunch of scanning. And a load of laundry. Oh, and I changed the sheets on my bed!
Laughing Buddha
I did not avail myself of two free tickets to see Spamalot up in Rochester this evening. I’m just feeling too fuzzy and the performance was scheduled to start relatively early, and I just couldn’t get my mind around going. I am a bad human.
And that’s all I’ve done. I haven’t done much thinking. Mostly just puttering a getting little things accomplished.
It looks like I will be heading to JC and EC’s on Tuesday, not Monday. So Monday might be wide open! It’s a bank holiday though…
Augustus for President: I have been doing some work on the 50+1 Capitals Tour. Mostly adding items of infromation to the pages of each state capital: when the state was settled or founded – whichever is earlier, population (as of 2024), GDP (Gross domestic Profit), Motto and Bird. I’ve gotten through the first few days at least. Maybe I will do more in the third part of the evening.
Ok, I am thinking I will get three swag type items – coasters, pens and stickers – for the 50+1 Capitals Tour. Maybe 200 of each and see what happens. I need to order them soon so that I will get them by the time I leave Geneva. My departure date is now February 9. RP has offered to let me stay inhishouse for the time I will be in DC. That is great! And very generous of him. He will be heading out on the 10th, but I can still stay until I leave on the 12th. So excited. That gives me more time in Washington, so I might go to a museum or something while I am there. It will also give me a way to ease into the trip instead of going full bore right from the start.
Every Drachma Helps – $10 will buy me a big mac meal on the road – or more likely a Bojangles meal. One of the things I miss most from North Carolina is Bojangles.
That’s twice in two days that the food I wanted to order at a restaurant was food that they were out of. And it was their special this evening. Why didn’t the server, who seemed really high strung, know before she gave us the specials that they were out of the Duck a l’orange. And why hadn’t the specials sheets (just regular paper cut up – nothing that couldn’t have been reprinted quickly and easily) been reprinted with a different special. There were already people in the restaurant. Maybe there had only been one of the duck entrees left and someone else had ordered it. Who knows. Anyway, I was underwhelmed by the place and don’t think we will have to go there again. We both had garlic chicken that was not particularly garlicky. Pleasant but not exceptional or even interesting. Imho.
Me without Sunglasses
I am not sure how to feel about this. I am, generally, inordinately(?) proud of my tiny accomplishments. But they are bricks in the wall. And if I lay enough bricks, amazing things will be built. Or such is my conceit. Last night, I had a few little achievements that made me smile. Baby Tortoise Steps rule!
My baby steps were yesterday. Today, not a single step forward. Yet. The night is young and maybe I will accomplish something before I sleep. Anything is possible. I spent most of the day doing nothing. I took a drive and ran an errand before lunch. Then for lunch I had the last of my chicken from my rotisserie chicken. After lunch, nada. Nothing. Not even a hint of a baby step. Not sure why, but I just wasn’t interested in doing anything other than lie (not lay) around on Threads. And I tried to not do too much of that. And didn’t really succeed.
I am back from dinner. I need to do my evening Duolingo practice session. And then I will see about maybe doing something productive – like more scans. Or maybe working on the subtitles for the Alice movie. Or maybe even work on the 50+1 Capital Trip plans. The world, well, my bedroom at least, is my oyster. Not my huckleberry. I don’t think I have ever had a huckleberry.
Augustus for President: One part of my work (hahaha – when what you are doing is what you want to be doing, can it be called work?) was to print out a batch last night of the QR codes on some Avery label stickers. It took me a little trial and error, but I managed it. Not exactly sure what I am going to do with them, but I made them and that makes me happy. The other task was to start on the file that I am going to use as a basis for my speeches at the state capitals and will eventually use for a youtube movie of the whole 50+1 Capitals Tour. First step, downloading flags. I am still thinking about getting a virtual assistant to help with the data. And with figuring out when and to where and what to send as press releases about the trip. Who knows, maybe some radio station or podcast or internet talk show will be interested in chatting with me. Or that people will actually come out to see me at the capital buildings. Any of those would be ok. And if none of them happen, that’s ok too. Early Days.
SM and I actually spoke about the trip a little bit. She thought I was going to be harassing governors on this trip. I am not. I am mostly just going to the capitals, and then to a pub or something and seeing if people want to interact. I am mostly going to achieve a teeny bit of “standing.” I do assume, though, that every past and future candidate for president has been to every state at least once. Yes?
Every Shekel Counts! Did you know that $10 pays for most of one charge for my EV?
One of the things that I liked about Dashing was that it gave me the opportunity to read. When the calls were coming slowly, I could crack open a book and read while waiting. Made the time pass much more pleasantly. And I got a lot of reading accomplished. Since I stopped Dashing, I haven’t made the time to read pleasure books as much.
I did not get started as early as I had sort of planned today. About an hour late (but not a dollar short). But I still got my few tasks taken care of. Even did some food shopping. Though I did it at Walmart (ick). They are the only store in the area where I can get Tang. While I was there I bought a few other things that were on my food shopping list. Woo hoo.
Next up, dinner with EC and JC. I have no idea why they want to take me to dinner, but I certainly won’t complain. This will be the third time that we have arranged a dinner. The first two times didn’t happen – once for snow and once for night time driving problems. This time, I hope that it will all work out. I played chauffeur.
It did work out! We went to Geneva on the Lake. I was not impressed. I did see a friend from when I worked at The Smith. That was nice. And our server was ok. I had a delicious bowl of cream of spinach soup. I ordered the pork chop only to be told that they didn’t have it. That irked me. I was trying to stay away from beef for one reason or another. Instead I ordered chicken wings and fries from the bar menu. The fries were undercooked, which was bad. The wings were crispy, which was good. But they were all flats, which was weird. I expect an equal number of flats and drumettes. I told the manager, who agreed with me and apparently had words with the kitchen. Sigh. At least EC and JC enjoyed their meals.
I am home now. I have done my Duolingo and am about to move into phase three of the evening. I hope to get some scanning of photos accomplished and maybe some other stuff.
Augustus for President: I set up an appointment to chat with a travel company about them possibly helping me with travel for my upcoming 50+1 Capital Trip. I didn’t think to check my campaign website for messages. Why? Because I just didn’t think of it. I need to be better about that. When I get my dedicated phone for the campaign, I will set up the email account on there so I will get the messages as they arrive. But, this meant that I didn’t see that I was supposed to call them, not them call me. Which is messed up, imho. When I didn’t hear from them at 2, I checked my email to find that there were a lot of messages from the company. One of them asking me questions that would help them figure out if their services were a good fit for my needs. I called the number as soon as I saw the message and had a pleasant chat with the sales person. They will set up an appointment for Monday or Tuesday next week.
Since I have the new Chrome created QR code, I think I will print out a sheet of the QR code stickers. How exciting is that?
My mom was really good at making photo albums for a few years. Lots and lots of them. And a bunch of empty ones which show she intended to make more of them. But didn’t. Anyone want any of the unused photo albums? On that note, what is going to happen to memories that we snapped on people’s phones? Weird to think about.
Well, that was a waste of a morning. I just sat and looked at my phone for so many hours I lost track. I will be more productive this afternoon. I mean, getting out of bed would make me more productive.
Someone on threads or instagram said that if one doesn’t speak out about the horrible craziness that is happening in the US and the world, than one is not doing their part. Is she right? Should I say more about that sort of thing here? I do a lot of that on social media already. And this blog is more about the daily happenings in my sometimes boring, sometimes fun and exciting, life. I’ll think on it.
The afternoon did make up for the lethargy of the morning. I started with the low hanging fruit. First, I put in the screw eyes in the back entry way and bungie corded the ladder to the wall. That way it won’t fall on me or anyone else as readily as was its wont. I next proceeded to cut up the chicken pot pie I made last night and put the pieces in freezer bags. More stuff in the deep freeze that I can eat instead of buying food. Yay? And I printed out the three blank calendar pages that I wanted to print out. Woo hoo!
That made me feel better about being able to actually accomplish things. I went on to do other stuff. Most notably for me was to go into my reminders and look for ones that had fallen through the cracks. How do they fall through the cracks you ask? Good question. What happens is that sometimes I forget to tell Siri when to schedule a reminder so it goes into a generic list of reminders. Or, I try to tell siri when to schedule the reminder and she doesn’t manage to parse it correctly so it goes to the generic list. I think I found ten or so that needed to be timed. Nothing too terrible though.
I also did some work on the Alice movie. I found an old public domain piece of music that I think I will use for the whole piece. It’s shorter than the movie, but I can use it a few times. I started adding captions to the titles in the movie because I created them with a difficult to read font. I am wondering if I ought to edit out the biggest film burns and things. I hope to have a good version of the movie ready to be posted by the end of January. I wonder if it will get any views.
I have done my Duolingo and am about to dine. I think I will unfreeze and heat up a piece of the chicken pot pie. And add a salad to that to make a meal.
My brother thinking deep thoughts
Augustus for President: Some of the reminders I hadn’t given a time to were thoughts I had had about campaign related things. Most of those made it into the database.
The calendars I printed out were to help me figure out my itinerary for the 50+1 Capital Tour. I am debating adding some extra time on there when the drives are long but not impossibly so. I thought I might make the threshold 300+ miles to break up. But that would have added 14 days to the schedule, which is way longer than I wanted to spend on this trip. Especially since it will not really be a campaigning trip. I guess I will just have to get up and out earlier on some days if I want to be on a capital’s steps at 4 pm in each state.
Later, I worked on more badge looks. I sent them to the one person, so far, who has said she would be interested (willing?) to wear one. Should I give her some stickers too? I think not, because they have “I Met Augustus” on them. And that might not be true. I might ask her if she wants an NFC card. Though the badge now has a QR code on it, thanks to google chrome.
Well, that day didn;’t go as planned. Or hoped at least. I mean plans. Hahahaha.
I got up and did my morning stuff before heading off to my engagements.
First, I dropped off some docs at a friend’s house. Then I drove to JC and EC to help them with some paperwork. That took quite a bit longer than I had anticipated. But we got a lot done. That is a good thing. I also offered to help them cull if they wanted help. They did not leap at the offer.
My next tasks were to pick up some deer sausage (thank you LD) and mail the package that JC and I had created. I went first to the package mailing place up on Pre Emption. They don’t do Fed Ex, only UPS. I asked about overnight and they said it would cost $170 dollars. That is insane. So I asked their next less expensive option – $13. Sigh. So I went to the post office and got them to do it and it only cost $11.
At home, I had some lunch. As I said in the title, it was supposed to be a “finish” day. I wanted to try and finish up some food items that have been hanging around the house for a long while. But that didn’t happen. I thought I could finish the Doritos. Nope. I thought I could finish the left over chicken (I made some chicken salad). Nope. I thought I could finish up the macaroni salad. Woo hoo! I finished it!
After lunch, I went straight to sleep. I have no idea why. And I didn’t wake up again until almost 4! I checked my reminders list and saw something that I thought I would be able to finally finish – strapping the folding ladder to the wall in the back entry way – was low hanging food. Grabbed the electric drill so I could drill pilot halls for the eye hooks and…no power. It is plugged in now and I will affix the ladder that tomorrow. I also found the bungie cords I thought I had seen a while back for strapping it down.
So, long and the short of it. Not a lot of finishing going on here at the Chalet.
Turns out that I have been automatically enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B already. That’s a good thing I guess. I don’t start benefits until my birthday, I don’t think. We shall see.
On a completely different note – I have, for the last few years, spent most of winter up in my bedroom. And while I have had a full time boarder, I have spent even non-winter days either up in my bedroom or out on my porch. One of the reasons for staying up in my room is because it is warmer than the living room during the winter. Another is because the sounds from the TV in the living room can be louder than some people like. I don’t want to disturb my boarders or guests with my media. Generally. I do play the radio in the kitchen when I am working in there, though…
Dinner time! I made a large chicken pot pie. It looks pretty good imho.
Yum?
That was scary. I updated my system software on my mac and when I went to open the house and book inventory I have been working on, Filemaker said it couldn’t find it. After some research (as in searching and then re-searching) I found it. Phew! That would have been really disheartening. I really need to be better about backing up.
Augustus for President: A question I need to ask the FEC is, since I am running as an independent and I am not participating in a primary, does that mean that a donor can contribute $6600 to my campaign? Not that I think anyone will do that (though hope springs eternal).
Someone actually agreed to contemplate wearing a badge saying “Vote for Augustus.” My mind is still reeling over that…
Sigh. I made the mini chicken pot pies last night. And they turned out pretty well. I am still not spicing things enough. But, as I was going to get my orange vanilla ice cream bar out of the fridge last night, I saw the bag of peas. The six little ones that I made left me a lot of filling. So, I will buy some more pie crust and make a large chicken pot pie tomorrow night. And I will add the peas!
Woke up early and stayed up. So I guess this will be a napped filled day! My new cleaner asked if she could come earlier than the 11:30 that we had agreed upon. Not thrilled, but I like to accommodate people if I can. She wanted to come at 9 instead. I’m guessing so she can squeeze in another client. Who knows. Anyway, I woke up around 6:30, did my Duolingo and thought deep thoughts. Then I got out of bed and did some dishes. Oh, and I also started a Roomba in the dining room. The cleaner, Y, arrived but I didn’t hear her knocking because I was in the kitchen. I had mentioned that she should just come in, but I understand her reluctance to do so. Anyway, onwards.
Y did a decent job. I hadn’t asked her to do too much (both bathrooms and the kitchen) and she accomplished what I asked of her in an hour and three quarters. I paid her for two hours anyway. How magnanimous of me. I probably won’t ask her to come back until May. My boarder also neatened up the counter where her stuff lives. She mostly just threw a bunch of crap away – and of course just tossed it in the biggish outdoors trash can. I’ll shove it down later. And I guess I am putting out the trash again this Sunday.
After the cleaner left, I eventually had lunch: watermelon, leftover sushi and a mini chicken pot pie. Yum city! I will have two more mini chicken pot pies for dinner tonight. Plus a salad. That will be good. My question to myself is, do I want to make more of the pies tonight or wait until tomorrow to make them. I am leaning towards tomorrow.
More puttering and getting little things accomplished filled the rest of the afternoon. At some point, I went out to run my two little errands. I returned the book that I wasn’t reading and got one that was recommended by a web person whose taste I generally like. Then off to Wegensteins where I wanted to get more pie crust, to make more chicken pot pie-lets, and ended up with three items. But I got out of there for under $20, so I am happy about that.
Time for dinner and then the third part of the day!
Augustus for President: I like the idea of stickers. And I will make more of them. And larger ones. But…they are stickers. So unless they are affixed to something relatively permanent, or not affixed at all, they are a one use sort of thing. I am thinking of other marketing materials – like pens, coasters and magnetic business card like things as well. What would be a funny/interesting/unique item to use as marketing iten? How much is a reasonable amount to spend on those sorts of things for this 50+1 Capital Trip? $200? $500? Thoughts? (I love asking questions like this, knowing full well that I probably won’t get any feedback. Sigh) I figure if I give out five of each thing in each state, I need about 250 of them. Maybe I will do 250 stickers and 250 of something else. Brand them with the Trip Name or not? So many thoughts…
I got a message from meet-up.com that my account was about to be deactivated. So I reactivated it. Maybe I will put my trip in there. And maybe in Event Brite or similar sites. Who knows if anyone will show up. Doesn’t really matter as these aren’t really campaign events. They are just – “Look at me Universe, I am visiting the whole country in one (not so) fell swoop” events. If people want to show up, that would be great. If not, I will survive.
SNAFU – This morning I went down to help JC and EC with things only to discover that it hadn’t been put in their calendars so JC had left to run errands. That turned out to be ok, as I could then take my time helping EC with her new phone. I don’t know why she got an iPhone instead of replacing her Android with another Android. It doesn’t really matter to me. Easier for me, but more difficult for her. We got her voicemail set up. And cleaned up the desktops of her phone a good bit. So it was a successful trip.
Off to Weggers! I want to make chicken pot pie for dinner tonight. But I decided I didn’t want to make a large one and to make smaller ones instead. I bought all the ingredients for a large one and we will see how the small ones turn out. I’ve got some cooking to do tonight. I’ll do some prep in a bit.
I spent part of the rest of my afternoon adding some of my CDs to my music library. I now need to figure out how to get them on my phone as well. It oughtn’t to be too hard, I hope. Sometimes Apple makes things stupid easy. Sometimes they just make it stupid.
Speaking of adding music to my library. I am debating spending additional money with Audible, or taking the 40+ hours it will take to upload my CDs that I have of the Wheel of Time Books into my computer. Or maybe I will just take them and my laptop and play them while I am driving. Not as convenient as just using my phone. Hmm. Thoughts are always appreciated!
Apple case in point. I was told by my computer that I didn’t have enough room on my computer to download the latest system software update. So I freed up some space. I thought a few gigs would be plenty to free up. Apparently not. I got another such message just now. Before I delete anything else, I need to look and see if I have indeed backed up the files I think I backed up. If I did, that will be another ten (10!!) gigs (gigs!!) that will be freed up. I remember when MS DOS fit on a few 512k floppies.
I have done the dishes and prepped the veggies for tonight’s dinner. I am making small chicken pot pies. I am mad that I forgot to debone the rest of the chicken. Poo. Well, I will do that while I am sauteeing the veggies I guess. Yes, that is what my dinner will be tonight.
Augustus for President: I must be doing something right. I have had a second person tell me that I shouldn’t run for president and that I ought to do something, anything else instead. What makes people think that they are in any position to give me that sort of advice. I don’t think I would listen to Obama telling me not to run. Anyway, I am running. Laissez les bon temps rouler. Or something like that.
I got my business credit card. How exciting is that? Pretty damn exciting if I must say so myself. I will start using it tomorrow. Change over some accounts to that card. Order some more stuff for the trip – pens and bigger stickers for two. I am debating whether or not to put vinyl lettering on the side of my car for the trip. Anyone have thoughts on that? I am leaning towards no.
In sorting through a box of assorted crap, mostly computer and phone related cables, I came upon a lanyard that I got back in 2018. A Kennedy Space Center lanyard. I thought maybe it would be good to use with my Presidential (in content, maybe not in style and class) name badge. Sadly, the lanyard was too long in its current configuration. If I decide to use it, it will have to be shortened. The lanyard put the badge at below my waist level…
In this same sorting, I came across a few CDs. I am going to try and find my external CD/DVD drive for my laptop and see if I can upload these CDs to my computer. If I haven’t already. They could be ones that I already added to my personal library. They aren’t. I checked. And I found the drive but the special cables for it have gone missing. Sigh.
Lots of little things to do today. A couple of car things – WD-40 the windshield wipers and put rain-ex on all of the external cameras. (see below) I want to unbox my tape measure. (see below) Clean out my email. (Done) Maybe watch some of a documentary about the Kogie people in the Andes mountains. (Probably not) And maybe start work on a graphic for the trip. (Hopefully later tonight) We shall see how far along we get on this todo list on this “doing” Sunday.
I tried to turn my new tape measure on and it wasn’t working. I unscrewed the battery cover and discovered the reason. No batteries. And it didn’t ship with batteries. What the heck is that about? How expensive would it to be to add a couple of AAA batteries? Sigh. Anyway, it is working now and is totally cool. Turn it on, zap the laser and it tells you how far away something is. Wow. And I just changed the Units to Feet. I wonder if there is a Feet and Inches option instead of the Feet and decimal parts of a foot. How many inches is .34 feet? (about four inches I guess…)
It is too cold and wet to do the WD-40 windshield wipers thing today. And it doesn’t look like the weather is going to be any better in the next 10 days. So, maybe I will take the WD-40 with me on the road and when the weather gets warm enough, do the WD-40 thing on the wiper blades then. This is something that I saw on YouTube that looked like it made sense.
Such good stuff got done today overall. Yes, it is cold and wet and unpleasant outdoors. But inside the house it isn’t so bad. I have done most of my todo list. Then I got a message from the system saying that Apple wanted to update my laptop’s system. But there wasn’t enough room. I decided to see what all was taking up so much space. One thing was a movie that I downloaded a long time ago from when I was working at the Smith. Trashed it. Then there were some other movies from other times of my life. I am saving those to my super large thumb drive. One of them, it turns out, has the Alice in Wonderland scene/ movie on it. Actually there might be three copies of it on my computer at this point. The name of the file was deceptive which is why I couldn’t find it. The file was called DVD Video Recorder. What it is is a digitized version of a VCR tape that was sent to me when I asked to have a bunch of old home movies (and Alice) transferred from 8mm and super 8mm film to video tape. Because at the time, there wasn’t much in the way of large inexpensive storage for computers besides video tape – back in the early 2000s I think. Maybe as late as 2012. Maybe. Anyway, the good news is that I found the Alice thing and will be posting it on YouTube at some point in the not too distant future. How exciting is that? Let me answer that question for you. Very exciting!!
Oops, I started copying more large files onto my huge thumb drive (two terrabytes) and it is taking forever. Luckily I can do other things while they are copying in the background.
It is getting onto the third part of the day. I am about to do my Duolingo. And then I will make some dinner. More chicken and asparagus I think. Debating the salad and french fries…
Augustus for President: After dinner, I think I will start working on the multimedia part of my 50+1 Capital Tour (which is going to cost me around $12k if I had to guess – maybe more). I plan to post on YouTube, Facebook, and Threads. I don’t know about TikTok. Or X (🤮). Oh, and Blue Sky. Anyplace else that people who vote might see the posts?
I feel like I am making some good progress on both the campaign and in preparations for the trip. I am still sad that I can’t find anyone crazy enough, er, smart enough to come on this once (well, twice for me so far) tour of all 50 states. Frustrating.
Shameless appeal for money: Bernie raised about $200m in each of his two campaigns. I don’t think he had super pacs or anything like that besides the amount he and his campaign raised. That seems like a good target for the end of next week. Hahaha, just joking. I have much smaller goals. I would like to raise $5000 as quickly as I can. If I can raise that much, I think I can raise whatever else is needed, eventually.
Yes, I would love your support. Those who have supported me thus far (both of you), thank you. Those who haven’t – each person can give up to $3300 per candidate per election. Just saying…(link is the name of this section above)
