I Might Be Crazy

Every once in a while, for about an hour, I think that I am totally insane for running for president. There are only three outcomes that I can think of here. One, I don’t win. Two, I win. Three, I die. Am I missing anything? But it isn’t the outcomes that make me insane. It is doing all the things that I can think of to make outcome Two to come to pass. Even the capital trip is insane. Sigh. Then it passes and I get excited again. Life is an adventure. Live it!

One Christmas, we made marzipan candies

I was not particularly adventurous today. Mostly, I just stayed home and puttered here and there. I did a few books, which, by the way, is so much easier now in the database I created. Importing the records from the other app will have to wait until I have at least finished the books from the backstairs. There are probably only a couple hundred there. If I nibble at a few of them everyday, I ought to be finished before Christmas. And I have to get scanning. Or at least looking in more boxes of photos and seeing what I can find that needs scanning.

Speaking of Christmas, I was just alerted that one of my gifts, that I chose to have delivered to JSB and PM’s place, won’t get there until December 26. Grrr. I thought I ordered it early enough, but it must be coming by slow boat from China. Well, I guess my gift plans need to continue to mutate. Fun times. I know I’ve mentioned it before. I hate buying presents for people under pressure.

Lunch was more leftover pizza. I think I need to start eating two pieces at a go if I want to eat it all before it spoils. Sigh. Dinner will be leftovers from T-Day.

At some point today, I managed to get my act together and get dressed. My important mission: head to the grocery store. I needed a few supplies. And somehow spent $75! I will admit that a few of my itens were on the pricier side. I thought I was closer to $50. Oh well. I am worth it.

I have also been reading the latest Rivers of London book, Lies Sleeping, and am enjoying it thoroughly. Someday soon, I am going to have to watch all the youtube videos that I have been saving for later. Many of them have to do with the campaign either directly or indirectly. There are a few that are just interesting thought type videos.

I got two invitations to dinner for Sunday. I had already agreed to the one, though, I think the other would have been fun too. The first will be to the BBQ place down Route 14. The other was to Torrey Park. I wonder if EC and TC will remember to try the artichokes french. I sent EC a text. Maybe that will work.

Augustus for President: I have started drafting two more documents: a press release for the capital tour and a script for someone calling possible Campaign managers. The main thing I wanted to get down on the press release was the disclaimer that dates and times may change due to acts of god and acts of man.

I also added more thoughts to the database. A very serious discussion of UBI (Universal Basic Income) needs to take place and how to fund that. That and Universal Health Care would go a long way towards making America a place to be proud of and not embarrassed by.

Cold Friday

It has been a cold day outside I guess. Too cold for Amazon to deliver a package that was promised to me by last Wednesday. Now it isn’t supposed to be delivered until December. Grrr.

It has been a pleasant day. I slept in. Read some. Did some work on Filemaker and entered my great grandfather’s books into the new database. Turns out it has a cool feature that will make adding authors etc. to the database. That’s cool. I have also done some fun reading. And got a good step on the next phase of planning for the State Capital tour that starts in February. See below.

I’ve been using versions of Filemaker since the 1980s. Recently I got a relatively new version of the app shared with me. Yay! I went to the Claris page to see what an updated version would cost. They have two models. A subscrition model or a purchase model. I don’t want to pay a subscription. I hate subscriptions. I already have way too many subscriptions in my life. So I looked at the one time fee. $625 for a single user license. That is fucking insane. And no upgrade path. No lower price for someone who already has a version of the software. What the actual fuck is that about? Just because I love filemaker, doesn’t mean that I love Claris, the company that makes it. Screw them. The frustrating thing is that now I am less eager to put things in Filemaker because my app could suddenly stop working when the OS is upgraded on my computer. Grrr.

That being said, I still think I will move my inventory to a database I create in Filemaker. Did I say “grrr” already? (Got a bit down this road today)

Another little grrr. I forgot to take pictures of the people I spent Thanksgiving with. How crazy and silly is that? I took a picture of my food and not the people. I am lame. Lame beyond compare!

It is a day off for much of the country. So they can all go out and spend money. Crank the economic wheels. There is a supposedly a Black Friday buying Boycott thingie going on though I haven’t really seen much about it. I rarely buy stuff on Black Friday anyway, as it seems to me that most “deals” are just inflated prices being reduced to regular prices with the words “Black Friday Deal” slapped on them.

Duolingo is done. The blog is done. Time to eat. I am having leftovers, but I am not exactly sure what. It’s ok. My leftovers whatever they are will be a step above fodder. Not a huge step but…

Brodie the amazing escape Dachshund!

Augustus for President: I am starting to flesh out my thoughts and itinerary for my first cross country trip. It looks like it is going to be close to 14k miles driving. Eeek! I know that my charging bill is going to be huge unless I can find locations that have complimentary charging. Even if it is slow. Better than paying all that for Supercharger kilo-wattage. And asking AI to do the math for me, it looks like the cost to charge will be about the same as the charge for gas. Unless I can find some stopping places that have destination chargers. Next step is figuring out flights and timings.

This is such a fun process. I am so sad that I can’t find someone who wants to do it with me. But there’s still time for someone to decide that a trip to all 50 states might be a great experience. Then again, they would have to travel with me and I know I am not the easiest pserson to travel with.

Anyway, my thoughts are as follows. First, try not to drive more than 500 miles in a day. If the ride is going to be longer than that, find a place to overnight about half way. Second, try to be at the capital building each day around 4 pm. Stay there for an hour. Then go to someplace to eat, drink and be chatty until around 9. Then to the sleeping location by 10. On the road the next day around 8 am if possible – keeping in mind the second step. Rinse and Repeat. This will make my Press releases easier to produce if I have times set out. I don’t have places to eat and chat at figured out yet. I am leaning towards pubs because people are more chatty in places like that sometimes. Maybe I can even contact a place ahead of time and arrange something. Who knows. Just random thoughts…

Do I know anyone who is good at writing press releases?

T(oo much food) Day!

Guess who is cooking? Yes, me! I am making the Turkey right now. The Brussels Sprouts are cut. I have put the things I think I will need that might not be in the kitchen I am heading to into a bag. I also put aside a baking pan just in case (good thing I did). Except for the cranberries which I will only take out when it is about time to go.

The turkey turned out surprisingly well. The Brussels Sprouts were a tad undercooked in parts, but overall turned out decently. EC liked them a lot at least. Both the gravy and stuffing were made from mixes but were received happily. And the cranberry sauce was spot on.

Meanwhile, EC and JC made delicious baked sweet potatoes, a little bit of roasted red pepper and roasted asparagus. I tried to only put a little bit of each thing on my plate and still had too much food. TC did a good job eating. Actually everyone ate a good bit. Someone even had some turkey even though they are vegetarian. My lips are sealed. I will not divulge who it was.

My Thanksgiving plate

We had a lovely time. First we did more cooking. Everyone helping. Then we took a break for champagne and lots of different delicious cheeses. More cooking ensued. And then we put everything on the table and helped ourselves. Good talk, good food, more wine. All in all a great event! At around 4, I toodled home and took a much need digestive nap.

I brought some leftovers home. Too much stuffing left over and too much cranberry sauce. I will probably mix them together at some point. And I also brought home a piece of pecan pie. I might have the pie later. With some ice cream. I find pecan pie a bit dense to eat on its own. I would only be able to eat the tiniest of slivers in most cases.

On other issues –

The things you can learn. I just learned that my great grandfather was a man named Orville H. Leonard. He was, amongst other things, a published author. A poet in fact. Who knew? I certainly don’t remember that being mentioned. It might have been. But I don’t recall it being spoken of. Maybe he was a black sheep of the Leonard family. I guess I will have to pay for more Ancestry.com and see if I can find cousins from that side of the family.

The database inventory app I bought is irking me no end. It just isn’t the least bit intuitive. And I can’t find good videos about it. So, I might just create my own Filemaker version of an inventory app. That oughtn’t to be too hard or take too long. And then I can export the data from the old one into the new one. Who knows, maybe Filemaker will have a template for that sort of thing that I can build on.

Augustus for President: JC filled out the Questionnaire. And I left one for EC. TC politely declined. I will enter JC’s answers into the database at some point soon.

It looks like I need to change the font on the poster heading to Impact. Makes sense.

There is so much research that needs to be done. I really need an assistant. I feel like I say that a lot…

Thanksgiving Eve

That’s a holiday, right? Thanksgiving eve? I don’t care if it is or not, I am going to celebrate it. For tomorrow we dine!

Yes, it looks like I am sharing T-Day with JC and EC and TC. I will start cooking the turkey tomorrow before I head down there. I think the other stuff I can make while there. The stuffing takes no time. Nor does the gravy. The Brussels Sprouts take a bit of time – so maybe I will at least cut those up tomorrow before heading South. Oh, and cranberry sauce – I think that takes almost no time as well. So excited! I do enjoy cooking.

Speaking of which, I came to a realization last night. I could re-watch the Baking Show episodes! I mean, why not. People do watch reruns. Heck, I’ve watched Ted Lasso three times. Maybe four. And the same with Gilmore Girls. So, why not the British Bake-Off. I wonder if Netflix will secure the rights to the first five seasons someday. I wouldn’t mind watching those. Anyway, I have started watching Bake Off again, starting with season 5! Woo hoo!

I did my first shelf of books in a long time. And I have completely forgotten how I did it before. I had thought I had used my laptop, but it is possible that I was using my phone. I would also like to get it working on my tablet in case I decide that I will let other people catalog some books. Not likely, but it is possible.

Scanning is temporarily paused. I am trying to decide how many random pictures of mom I want to scan. I have found some photo albums from her time in China. I am still in awe of her doing that. How amazingly brave and inspiring. Anyway, I can’t think of anyone in my immediate circle who is dying to or would be dying to see pictures of trips and experiences that mom had that didn’t include them. Like a trip to Hawaii that I didn’t even realize she had taken. I might scan one picture from each album or something. What I really want to find is all the pictures from 1957 to 1984 before things started going digital. I’ll keep looking. And scanning, where appropriate.

High School – but who?

The Town of Geneva supervisor lied to me. He told me that the credit card machine was going to be fixed this week. It wasn’t. Poo on him. I will call him again on Monday I guess. Or send another email.

Today was a one dash day. A long dash. It started at around 8:15 am and ended around 1:45 pm. 5 hours and ten minutes on the clock. 4 hours and 14 minutes of actual work time. I did ok money wise. I also chatted with a bunch of different dashers. I had two long waits – one at McDonalds and one at KFC. The one at KFC was crazy long. Apparently the store manager thought it wasn’t going to be busy so didn’t schedule many people. And it was a huge order from the National Guard people. (That wasn’t tipped enough imho) Oops. I think I will try this schedule again next week.

A potential cleaner came by and wasn’t freaked out about the areas I wanted her to tackle. Woo hoo! I think she will be scheduling a work visit for sometime during the second week of December. That would be cool!

Augustus for President: I keep telling people I am running, but not in an “in your face” sort of way. I am sure I will get there eventually. But until I can accept donations, I don’t really feel like the campaign is real. Real enough, for sure, since I am doing lots of little things towards getting my act together.

I think the next step is try and find some help, even if I have to pay for it. I can’t afford someone full time, but I can afford to pay someone to do some tasks. Top of that list, calling a lot of campaign people and seeing if any of them are interested in taking me on as a client. I wish I knew someone who wanted to be my campaign manager. That would be nice. I am sure JC would try, if he were mentally and physically up to the job. Sigh.

I had two very different interactions on Threads today. One person said I was spreading misinformation when I said that Newsom and Pete were both DNC party loyalists. They sure seem like they are to me. I suggested that he was MAGA and he wrote back and said that I was MAAG. Hahahaha. Probably a Russian bad actor. I blocked the account in any case.

The other interaction was with a guy who had good ideas about healthcare in this country. He pointed me at two articles that I will, one day, read. For now, just knowing that there are feasible alternatives is really good information.

Another Gray Day

A picture I took in China years ago – one of my favorite pictures ever

I had some strong and unpleasant dreams last night. Not a great way to wake up. And yes, that colored my whole day. I was just feeling gray. This too shall pass.

I decided that I would try a new dashing tactic today. I would start as close to 8 in the morning as possible and then dash until 2 or so. That way I would still dash 6 hours, but it would all be during the daylight. And I would work the whole lunch period. Good thought Augustus. Yes, it will make for a long shift, but if I have snacks and water and books to read in the downtimes, it ought to be ok, I reasoned. I used to do four hours at a time before. And even 8 back when I was doing Grubhub in Ithaca a couple of years ago. I was excited by the new plan. I even got some snacks together and put them in the car. Then, as I was driving around, I recalled that I had made a car appointment for the tires to be rotated and looked at for 1:00 pm today. Sigh.

It was not a great dash. Around noon I was going to quit, but decided to do one more ride. The ride offered: $6.50 for 10 miles. Nope, declined. I clicked on end now, but instead of ending my dash, door dash tried to give me another dash. If it had been a good one, I might have taken it, but it wasn’t. It was $6 for 8 miles, two pick ups and two deliveries. Come on, Door Dash. Screw you! So, I made two declines in one day. I am down to 97% acceptance rate at this point. Grrr.

A good thing that came out of the dash was Mike at Mark’s gifted me with a pizza! Why? Because someone had ordered it with a stolen credit card. Yes, it is puffy pizza, not my favorite. But any pizza is better than no pizza. And this one turned out to be either old school pepperoni or maybe even a meat lovers pizza. In any case, yum and yay! I guess it pays to be nice to the nice. Or something like that.

The car place was also nice to me! I took the car in for a tire rotation and a look see at a tire that might have had a puncture. And sure enough, it was screwed. But they fixed it. And rotated the tires. All for free. Ostensibly because it took longer than they had told me it would take. I am not about to argue. And they said that the tires looked good for another 30k miles! So, through the length of the trip if I decide to use my personal car for that excursion. Still working on that. See below.

I came home just as it started to rain. Honestly, it wasn’t that cold today, so I could have gone out in the wet and done some deliveries. But feeling gray and being pissed at Door Dash, I just said fugetaboutit and crawled under one of my quilts for a while. I am feeling a lot less gray now, TTL.

During my convalescence, I cleaned all the dishes that had gathered in the kitchen. My boarder doesn’t even do her own pans all the time. And nary a glass. Sigh. I also did a little work on the computer.

Augustus for President: I gave questionnaires to two guys at Mavis Tire. I will check back at some point and see if they filled them out. Since I added a container for images to that database (which took me more effort than I would normally admit) I guess I could actually accept people’s images of their questionnaires if they want to submit them via email. Take a picture of it and then mail it to the campaign. I will think on that. I would still prefer that people fill them out and give them back to me in person. As I think that most people won’t fill them out and send them to me later.

I think I will go to Lake Drum a week from Friday and see if I can chat with anyone about the campaign.

I am also thinking about where to put the blog for the campaign. I have written to the campaign website people and will see what they think. It isn’t really designed to be a blog site. So I might just link to blogger or something when that time comes. Which is rapidly approaching!!

Fairly blogmother, PvK, came through again! After being thwarted at Staples, I was tempted by a shiny aluminum clipboard organizer with two sections in it. But it was really pricey. So I dithered. Whilst I dithered, PvK offered and then delivered a cool black one which ought to be great for the next few weeks. And maybe even for the trip.

Speaking of which, I am not having a great experience with Eon the car subscription place. I will call them tomorrow and see if I can get some clarity. Either I will get a car from them, or I will get FSD and Premium Connectivity for my car for those two months and just eat the car payments for those two months. Unless KSR can figure out how to add that to my campaign expenses.

End of an Era?

Ok, not really, but when I went into my local branch office, my favorite teller was no longer working there. Oh well. Life is that way sometimes. Luckily, I like all the tellers there! Phew!

Fall St. Brewery

Another early day and long drive for me. I hope to never have to do that again. I really don’t like setting an alarm. And getting up earlier than my body wants to. Luckily (?) my body wanted to wake up around 6 am. Which gave me lots of time to mellowly move into a place of willingness to get up and go about my business. Today’s early business was driving someone to Elmira. Not that far as the crow flies. But a lot of less than 55 miles per hour parts. So what ought to have taken an hour in terms of mileage took me closer to an hour and fifteen minutes. And then back again.

I got back in time to do some dashing. And chose not to. I had my mind set of doing a few errands. Like that bank that I mentioned above. And then the library to pick up two books. Then to the tire store. Where my favorite person there has also moved on. Yay change? I set up an appointment for tomorrow to get my tires rotated and my driver side front tire to be looked at for a possible puncture. I am of course prepared for it to not be fixable. That is my tire luck, generally.

Back at home I ate some lunch – a bagel with cream cheese. And in a bit of meta eating, I also used a little bit of everything bagel hummus for a few bites. Decent lunch!

Then, dashing. Dashing has not been as fiscally rewarding recently as it has been in the past. Part of that is because I am working less. I am quitting earlier and earlier in an attempt to a) have more time for me to putter, and b) to try to avoid the algorithm giving me a long drive for not enough money at the end of my shift – making me still not earn as much as I could be and also make me get home later than I really want to. And it gets dark so early! It didn’t seem to get this dark so early last year. But I am sure it did.

I am home now. Ready to eat more delicious hot dogs and baked bean stuff. And a side salad. Tomorrow, lasagna. And then Wednesday, more dog. Thursday will be turkey day! I am toying with the idea of doing something different with the turkey than just roasting it. Not deep frying, because other people will be eating it. We shall see how I feel come Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Augustus for President: Thanks to advice from PvK, I bought a bunch of good, inexpensive pens. Woo hoo! But Staples didn’t have a clipboard/container thingy that appealed. Which sends me back to Amazon. I am not a fan of Amazon. Yet, I do have to spend my money carefully.

I found a place that lets people use a Tesla for a month at a time. I wrote them and they said they couldn’t guarantee FSD unless I gave them dates. And they didn’t, again, answer all of my questions. Poo on them. So I gave them dates. Will I get a response? Anything is possible.

It occurred to me that adding a little note to the questionnaire asking people if they want to help with the campaign would be a good idea. So I added it. Finding a box to use for a check box was more difficult that I had thought it would be. I realized I only have one keyboard layout here on my computer. Maybe one day, Apple will make the keys on their laptops digital so that when you change keyboards through software, the hardware changes to reflect that change as well.

Folly, thy name is Augustus

But heck, why can’t we all have a little folly in our lives? Mine started last weekend. When SM and I were dining, I noticed a person of interest. Did I speak with her? No. Well, ok, I did say hi as I was walking out, but that was about it. She seemed like she was a regular. Though she also seemed out of place. Too well dressed imho. Anyway, since I was with SM I didn’t think it would have been polite to chat her up at all. Then again, SM would have probably supported me if I had said anything. Ain’t hindsight grand? And here comes the folly part. I thought if I went back the following Saturday, she would magically appear and we would get married and have a whole host of children to rival my brother’s brood. Or perhaps we might just chat for a bit and nothing would come of it. In any case, that was my “plan.” I had contingencies, of course. Like if I didn’t see her in a couple of strategic window pass bys, I would give it up as a bad deal and head to the Fall Street Brewery and try their beer. Which is what occurred. Sigh. Hey, at least I made a little bit of an effort.

The Fall Street Brewery was a decent place. They had a musician performing. Lots of floor and table space. A decent sized bar. And a selection of about sixteen items (maybe 12?) on tap. I had a flight of four for $10, tax included. Not too terrible a price, really. The beers were not that exciting. The porter was thin. I liked the Cherry Cherry Cider. The Double New England IPA was ok. The regular IPA was not all that great. And their water was terrible. I hope they filter the water before making beer from it.

I had eaten before I had headed out, so that was basically my exciting evening. Woo hoo. One more Saturday night.

Now it is Sunday. My helper did not come back and put up the railings that she took down. True, she took them down at my suggestion, but still, she had made noises about coming today since tomorrow she had school and then she was leaving for the Turkey Day holiday on Tuesday. Whatever. I have lived this long without railings, I think I can manage another week or two without them.

What else did I do today? I spoke with my sister about Christmas plans. She said she was ok with me coming up on the 20th and leaving the 27th. I think that is what I want to do. If it changes, it changes. It turns out that one of her sons and his wife are coming for a few days including Christmas. They are staying elsewhere. This does mean, though, that I need to come up with meaningful(ish) gifts for them. I am good at giving gifts. Really. I just don’t like to do it under pressure. I asked SB for advice on gift giving since it is his brother and he came through! I will see what the house can provide! And I will also get something food related. Food related gifts are great, I think. Generally.

I also did my Thanksgiving food shopping. I got a turkey breast and some Brussels Sprouts. I also purchased another bag of cranberries just in case I don’t have enough for four people in the bag I already have. And I got some stuffing – it says savory herbs is the flavor. I was trying to get something vegetarian. Lastly, I got a packet of gravy. If worst comes to worst, it will just be me eating the stuffing and gravy and I am ok with that!

Two loads of laundry, a clean Augustus and a newly sheeted bed are also little accomplishments of the day.

Oh, I have been on a bit of a spending spree lately and splurged on some towels. Towels, I hear you cry! Don’t you have a linen closet stuffed full of linens, including towels? Why, yes, yes I do. But I wanted some big towels like the one I often use for showers and we don’t have a lot (if any) of those. Not that large as far as I can recall. And the red room, and the attic and the basement room all are parts of the house that I have been avoiding for a while now…

Another Splurge – grinch gloves!

Ok, time to eat some dinner – more left overs. Pizza and wings with a side salad. So exciting!

Augustus for President: I am starting to enter the four questionnaires that my helpers did on Saturday. I changed one thing on the form so that instead of just saying “name” it asks for first last and middle. I am sure more tweaks will come. Anyway, their handwriting is almost illegible. And I pride myself on my ability to decipher illegible handwriting. And they all write so teenily. It is weird. I have done two forms and have two more to struggle through.

And I added more thoughts to the database. Go me.

I think I will put off doing any events until January.

I think in December and January I will really buckle down and find help. A travel person and a researcher. It would be nice to have an assistant to delegate finding both of those to. So maybe I will just focus on the assistant. Thoughts are welcome. Hahahahaha

Free Money!

How generous!

People confuse me. For instance, I put my recycling out and when I picked up the bin to put it back on my porch, there was thais water bottle in there. One that is worth $.05. Not a penny. Five pennies! So exciting!! Free money! And there was still water in it. Which I used to make a bowl wet in the sink. Nothing wasted. Woo hoo! Now, if only I can get my house mate to rinse her recyclables and put them in the right place. Sigh.

Speaking of recycling, I think I will put the trash out tomorrow. After I collect all the trash from the rest of the house. It has been a while. I will need to check what my account is up to at this point. Last time I checked there was enough for a least two trash collections. I guess we shall see.

Today has been an odd feeling day to me. I have felt a little spacey, ever since I got up. I had pretty intense dreams from the little I recalled when I woke up. Then, I basically did nothing until it was lunch time. For lunch, I had left over pizza from last night. Easy and fast and pretty tasty. I think I might like the deep dish pizza I got the time before this better. I don’t recall how it was priced. It doesn’t really matter at this point since I will be having left over turkey dinner stuff over the weekend anyway. And yes, I looked in the deep freezer and I have enough cranberries to make cranberry sauce for four people. I think. Depending on how much people want to use. I think I’ll make it all and see what happens. If that is what I do, I will need to, at some point, buy some more frozen cranberries.

1:30 pm rolled around and three of my helpers were right on time. The fourth was, once again, around 10 minutes late. I wonder why that is the case. The three did painting. The back stairs are all done except for the railings going up. And the back entry way is one huge step closer to being finished. Now, if only I can get them working on the clothes…

My other worked laid out some planks for the pathway in the side yard. And then lugged all the not so good wood out of the basement and added it to the growing detritus pile (luckily nothing too heinous or unsightly (though I will have to go out and check his work at some point)) in the backyard. He was feeling low energy, I was feeling low energy. So I decided that would be all he would do today. No plumbing for us!

Now I am at a crossroads. I am leaning towards going to Seneca Falls and visiting the Red Brick Pub again. And maybe the Fall Street Brewery. We shall see. First, I have to do some duo lingo and eat a little something. I don’t want to try more Buffalo chicken egg rolls tonight.

Augustus for President: I got all four of my workers to fill out the questionnaire. I hope I can read their responses. Two of them had extremely small writing. I have also ordered a few clipboards with pen holding attachments so that when the time comes to have meetings with people, I can give those out which will give them all something to do. Yay. The clipboards and pen holding attachments are supposed to arrive on Monday. I also asked them to look at the poster and two of them suggested that the font for the main text needed to be something more impactful. Two of them liked the Font “Impact.” The third liked “Apple Chancery.” I might take posters and forms with me tonight and see what happens. Maybe ask for more input on the poster and ask people to fill out the forms.

Fall Down, Go Boom

A friend fell today. Luckily, she wasn’t hurt so far as we could tell. Time will reveal if she did in fact hurt anything. It was kinda scary, as most falls are. She fell in the middle of the road, having missed the fact that she was stepping off of a curb, thinking she was continuing on the same plane. Cars stopped, people came to help. We got her back to her ride and hopefully she is lying down and has taken a lot of pain medication. No bueno.

Actually there was a notable event yeesterday while dashing. My first dash of the second shift was a two parter – a pick up from Walgreens and a pick up from CL Luffy. The money wasn’t great, but I didn’t care. I accepted. Then a note popped up about the Walgreens order. I went to hit “agree” but the car bounced and I hit something else instead and the order went away. And I got a ding for not “completing” that order. Grrr. If I cared, I would call Door Dash and complain. But I have done that in the past to no avail. So, why bother. It is only one. And in a hundred more dashes it will be erased. I still think that I ought to have gotten a lot of credit for the days that I have had 100% acceptance. Whatever. Door Dash is not the best organization to work for. But it does allow me to only work when I want to work. Which is great!!

The toys in the claw game seem to be Christmas related. Weird.

Today was one of my Saturdays. Woo hoo! When I was lying in bed, I was thinking that I really didn’t want to do much of anything today. And I didn’t. But I did. Weird, right?

Mostly, I just kicked back until about ten when I set my morning reminders to go off. I had a few and took care of them. Like printing out a few documents that I wanted JC to peruse and give me feedback on. More on that in the Augustus for President section below. I also did things like thaw some chicken wings for dinner tonight.

Eventually, I made it out of bed and headed out to run errands. First stop was the car wash. My car hadn’t had a bath in a while. And honestly, the car wash didn’t do so well on the bird poop. I don’t really care though. It is good enough for the time being. At the car wash place, I washed my two front mats and also did a little bit of vacuuming. Go me!

Next stop was Sweet Acres Creamery. I had seen something there that I thought might make a fun gift. There was no price on it, which was a red flag. And the actual price was definitely a red flag. I didn’t buy it. A trip for nothing. And I forgot to look and see if the cheese tasting bar was out. Poo.

Off to Harbor Freight. I wanted to get a spool for my long extension cord so if I use it, it doesn’t get tangled up again like it did before. I had one of these when I was using a corded electric mower and it wasn’t that useful. This one is for a cord if I end up having to use 120volt charging for the Tesla. 100 feet is a lot of extension cord! I need to see if it is better to put the plug to the wall on the inside or the outside of the spool. Thoughts are appreciated. I just watched a YouTube video that helped a lot!

Last stop for this set of errands was Wegman’s. My main goal was to get a frozen pizza. I ended up with a Newman’s Own as it was rated pretty highly by some online pizza pundits. And of course, I ended up buying a lot more crap. But I got out of there for under $50 which is always good.

Back home, I ate some lunch and did more little things from my reminders. Gosh I love them. They really help me to feel like I am doing stuff. Though I will admit that sometimes I put things on there just so that I can cross them off.

My next goal was to spend a little time with EC and JC. Turns out that they were peckish, so we met at Grounded. They had lunch, I had a hot chocolate. We talked about Thanksgiving. I think the plan was changed from eating at Geneva on the Lake, to making some sort of meal at their house. I will provide turkey, my favorite brussels Sprouts dish and a few other little things. They are providing appetizers, some sweet potato dish and wine. I think TC will be joining us. A productive and fun time!

At home again, I did more of my reminders. And suddenly, poof, it is time to do Duolingo, right the blog post and then cook pizza, wings and a little salad for dinner. Yippee!!

Augustus for President: JC is looking over the three docs I printed out for him, a draft of a possible poster for upcoming events here in Geneva, a potential letter to all the sitting Governors, and a draft of the Trip Question Form that I hope to use while doing the state capital tour next year. I also asked him to answer the questions on the Trip Question Form. Lastly, I created a small Filemaker DB for the answers when I start getting them.

Other things I accomplished – asked some questions of my campaign money guy (Hi KSR), looked into the best way to use a Tesla for the Capital City Trip, spoke with a person at Wegman’s about the campaign, tweaked the poster for the upcoming events in December (I hope to have three – all in one weekend),and added more thoughts to my thoughts and questions and actions database. Sounds like good set of accomplishments to me!

Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls

Buffalo chicken Egg rolls

Tonight for dinner I had four buffalo chicken egg rolls. The Red Brick Pub didn’t have them the other night so I went back to try them this evening. And to try their brand of Trivia. The egg rolls were decent – but I could have used more buffalo sauce. And they were a bit pricey at $12 for 4. I had mine with blue cheese. If I do have them again, I will ask for a side of buffalo sauce as well. At least the drink was relatively inexpensive!

Trivia was fun. I did ok. Not great. There were four rounds of seven questions each. And then a bonus/picture round with 10 answers. Everything was worth ten points. So a perfect score would be 380. I did not get anywhere near that, having missed a few in each round. And only getting 5 of the ten in the picture round. With PvK and MF we probably could have gotten at least 320. I don’t know if that would be enough to get us into second place. First and second were taken by two teams that were sitting right next to each other – effectively making their team 8 people. They were asked not to collude, but that didn’t stop them. Grrr. I might try to convince PvK and MF to go in December. Really, the questions were generally a lot easier than the Trivia at Twisted.

It was a two dash day and neither dash was worth saying much about. I am just happy that the week of dashing is over! Woo hoo even!

Well, I just got invited out for Thanksgiving dinner by EC and JC. That was very thoughtful of them. I wonder if I will then want to make myself a thanksgiving dinner but on another day. I really did like my menu. Hmm. Something to ponder. We might be headed to Geneva on the Lake. But nothing is certain at this point.

Oops, I did it again. I left my phone in my car. Normally this isn’t a big deal. But in the case of a Tesla, it is a huge deal! I wonder how I can help myself to remember to take it with me. I was wondering if an Apple Watch might have a way to alert me when I have left my phone behind. Like the phone alerts me when I have left my tablet behind. (It does)

Augustus for President: Does anyone else have weird bursts of creativity? For no apparent reason I was on a bit of a tear since around 6 this morning. I wrote a lot of speech snippets. And put a lot of thoughts into my database. And I had this wacky thought that turned out to be a decent one. What if instead of doing two round trips to and from the lower 48 to Hawaii and Alaska, I do an open jaw trip that flies me from one airport to one of those states. And then from that state to the other state and then back to the first airport? I just looked on Google Flights for a trip in March (which is when I think I might be near SFO) and it was surprisingly reasonably priced. ($681 for the whole trip). Go figure. I might just have to book that. Then again, since there is no direct flights from Juneau to Honolulu I might just go ahead and book them all separately.

I gave out two stickers today, to fellow trivia players. Pat and, er, I really need to be better at remembering people’s names!

Will I give up this blog when I start the presidential blog in January? We shall see.
